Former Vice President Dick Cheney says there was never any evidence that Saddam Husseins Iraq played any role in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on New York and Washington.
On the question of whether or not Iraq was involved in 9/11, there was never any evidence to prove that, Cheney said during an interview Monday night with Fox News Greta Van Susteren.
There was some reporting early on, for example, that Mohammed Atta had met with a senior Iraqi intelligence official, Cheney said. But that was never borne out.
In a 2003 interview on NBCs Meet the Press, Cheney said that the Czechs alleged that Mohamed Atta, the lead attacker, met in Prague with a senior Iraqi intelligence official five months before the attack.
But Cheney added, Weve never been able to develop any more of that yet, either in terms of confirming it or discrediting it. We just dont know.
Cheney said Monday that former CIA Director George Tenet brought to the Bush White House information pertaining to potential links between the hijacker and Iraq as it became available. But Cheney pointed out that Tenet did say and did testify that there was an ongoing relationship between al Qaeda and Iraq, but no proof that Iraq was involved in 9/11.

Same thing he’s been saying since 2003.

No, they didn't. But the left said they did and they said it over and over and over again till it was believed.
Lies, lies and more lies.
exactly right! Cheney is only reiterating what he always said...and the news media makes it seem like he is making a huge admission!
Cheney and company NEVER said Iraq was part of 9/11 BUT he did say...and it was borne out...that Iraq and Al-Quada had a relationship.
Most important...Iraq was eager and able to be home to terrorists like AlQuada
The other point never brought out was in the report that mentions NO WMD...the media ignored the fact that Iraq was able, willing, and ready to begin the nuclear program once the sanctions were lifted...something that Europe was gungho on before 9/11.
...that’s a caption, correct?
The Bush Administration never alleged that the Iraqis were involved in 9/11. That was a straw man argument constantly brought up by the MSM.
What the Bush Administration did say was that after 9/11, they couldn’t risk Saddam giving weapons of mass destruction to terrorists, so either Saddam had to admit inspectors, turn over all biological, chemical, and nuclear technologies, or be removed from power.
Saddam chose option B.
Nope, I don’t recall the Bush admin saying there was a link. I do recall the left twisting everything around and then blaming Bush.
...thats a caption, correct?
Sorry...yes...I just realized what he must have been thinking...
Since shortly after 09/11, the left in this nation took on the persona of a 12 year old girl who wanted to go out on a date with a 19 year old boy, without a chaperon. Every excuse in the book has been used to try to get permission. The adults just aren’t having any of it.
Hussien had to go. In a world facing terrorism, the terrorists biggest soul-mate wasn’t going to be ignored.
My disappointment wasn’t focused on the targeting of Hussein, but the lack of targeting of the leaders of Hamas, Hezballah, (the West Bank [Arafat’s] terrorist org.), South East Asian terrorist organizations, and anyone else who could be tied to terrorism in any way.
We fell down on that IMO.
Alert MSNBC and the SRM.
“Peace by persuasion has a pleasant sound, but I think we should not be able to work it. We should have to tame the human race first, and history seems to show that that cannot be done.” - Mark Twain
Interesting observation coming from a deserter...he was an enigma, no?

Yep. We let a crisis go by without exploiting it...we could have taken them all out...
A good observer of humanity nonetheless...of course he’s only a deserter to Confederates.
We could have made a bigger dent..., that’s for sure.
It’s an excellent example of why our armed forces should be beefed up, not reduced or even kept static.
We are not living in relative peace. We are on the very edge, and folks better wake up to it.
I like your tag. It’s true. He hasn’t outgrown the “narcissism” stage of childhood development. He still has to be the captain of the team. He still has to be the most popular.
He attacked Kuwait and continued to target US forces in spite of the armistice he signed after hostilities ceased.
He paid suicide bombers families $25,000 a pop to murder Israelis innocent women and children and sheltered and provided a base for Alqueda terrorists.
He was the primary voice of islamofascism, was the only head of state in the last 50 years to USE CHEMICAL WEAPONS, and had a NUCLEAR PROGRAM that would have put the atom bomb in the hands of terrorists had it not been destroyed by ISRAELI and AMERICAN AIRSTRIKES.
After 9/11, a REAL AMERICAN POTUS put him out of his misery and SENT A MESSAGE TO THE RAGHEADS that you MESS WITH THE UNITED STATES AT YOUR PERIL.
This will end similarly.
The highest level of the United States Government has been infiltrated by foreign agents.
Even the liars, con men, and thieves who participated in the fraud to elect a foreign born communist crypto-muslim are rapidly becoming astounded at the chaos they have wrought.
Thus always to tyrants.
I remember when that picture appeared in the NY Post like it was yesterday. I thought for sure that picture of a gloating hussein appearing to take credit for 9/11 was good enough reason to take him out. Just because a direct link couldn’t be found, doesn’t mean there wasn’t one.
“A good observer of humanity nonetheless...of course hes only a deserter to Confederates.”
Huh. Thought that wouldn’t matter...that it was the oath and his brothers at arms that he deserted...I think a Confederate deserter is just as deserving of scorn as anyone...let’s not go too far into that, though OK FRiend? I am a fan of his work...I just sometimes have to ignore the hypocrisy...works in regards to him, others and myself, sometimes...if you have some time, you might be interested in this story about Yank and Reb warriors;
