I just checked several sources about the Muslim population by country. The USA has a little over 3 million Muslims, which ranks it about 45th in the world. So much for our genius president.

That was the same source I used to come up with my estimate of the US Muslim population at somewhere over 3 million and about 45th in the world. You used the list that shows ranking by country, but that list has different figures than the list I used, which lists the countries alphabetically. But regardless of which list is used, the USA is nowhere near one of the top Muslim population countries in the world. So here’s another gaffe by the president that will go unreported, but which would be the source of endless guffaws if GW Bush had uttered it.
Yep, he said it. He was talking about numbers. If you look at it as the number of muslims in America, we’re one of the largest muslim countries in the world. The key word is “if.”
