The suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of one soldier and the critical injury of another at a Little Rock, Ark., Army recruiting booth today was under investigation by the FBI's Joint Terrorist Task Force since his return from Yemen, ABC News has learned.
The investigation was in its preliminary stages, authorities said, and was based on the suspect's travel to Yemen and his arrest there for using a Somali passport.
The suspect, Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad, 24, had changed his name from Carlos Leon Bledsoe after converting to the Muslim faith.
Law enforcement sources said he offered no resistance when Little Rock police arrested him today.
It was not known what path Muhammad, a U.S. citizen who is a recent convert to Islam, had followed to radicalization.
"At this point it appears that he specifically targeted military personnel, but there doesn't appear to be a wider conspiracy or, at this point in time, any indication that he's a part of a larger group or a conspiracy to go further," Little Rock Police Chief Stuart Thomas said.
But, Muhammad's travels overseas have sparked a major international investigation. Officials say it is too early to know for certain if he indeed acted alone.
According to sources, the suspect advised them that he was going to kill as many Army personnel as possible. At the time of the shooting, the subject had approximately 200 rounds of ammunition available, police said.
According to a police report, Muhammad told police he saw two uniformed U.S. soldiers in front of the recruiting office before he shot and killed Pvt. William Long, 23, and wounded Pvt. Quinton Ezeagwula, 18, while they were taking a break outside the U.S. Army recruiting station where they both worked.

And if one or both of the Green Suiters were also of African ancestry, they aren't his Bros.
Was he? Or wasn't he?
>It was not known what path Muhammad, a U.S. citizen who is a recent convert to Islam, had followed to radicalization.<
What path? One has to be a radical to “convert” to Islam in the first place. We the people, don’t learn anything when it comes to Islamic matters, do we?
Tiller was a thorn in a high ranking politician’s arse.
He had to go.
But the public must not be allowed time to dwell on the details of the murder.
So... a convenient murder that will draw the public’s complete attention. Soon, Tiller will be just a forgotten memory.
I wonder if this suspect in the shootings of the army soldiers voted in the 2008 election.
Of course, such speculation would be denounced, as he would have probably voted for Obama/Biden, since he is an African-American...
Looks like we got a new candidate for waterboarding, panties on the head, barking dogs, and some photo ops.
>Let’s find out if we have a President, or a Usurper.<
What has always puzzled me is that no one in Congress or with political power has ever challenged Obama’s eligibility for POTUS — not one. Am I to believe in a conspiracy to silence all inquiries into Obama’s background even if it means the rapid destruction of this country?
I don’t know what the big deal is with waterboarding...I’ve given birth 8 times....
"There's a clue in there somewheres, but for the life of me, I can't figure it out!"

“Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad”
Guess the DU crazies were wrong when they said “probably a veteran having a flashback”
Where did he get the money for his “vacation”?
A child is a gift from God...You have been blessed eight times.
I have to rant. I don’t know if ya’ll remember the maryland sniper case, the countless threads, and the prayer thread... (Links are on my homepage) I no longer have the ping list, just the few I retrieved from a thread...
This case to me is akin to that one, it makes me angry, the right wing extremist label made me angry, and the outcasts from either side should be held accountable equally... So, in memory of the days of 2002, when the Maryland Sniper victims and their families suffered, we prayed, hurt for them, and we should never forget. The outcast from the left are still out there...as we now see today.
Off my soapbox...
I'm surprised the Army hasn't released their pictures yet.
Hmm, their might be pictures sent out by the Home Town News Service, in conjunction with their either starting or finishing basic. There would have at least been stories.
Both were said to be from Conway Arkansas, although that may have been in error. Here's the Conway Log Cabin Democrat website. I did a quick search attempt on their names, with zero results. But it appears that they have not put anything up on the site since 8 am Monday morning. . They probably don't publish everyday. Perhaps they have the photos in the Archives, or can at least find a yearbook picture for the younger, Pvt. Ezeagwula. I did a Yahoo search on that last name, for all of AR. The only hit I got was Ike Ezeagwula living in Litt;e Rock, in the same general part of town as the recruiting station. He's also listed on a webite for Nigerians as signing a petition to try to get an international airport in Southeast Nigeria, with his location given as Little Rock. I'll bet Ike is Quinton's father or older brother.
Congratulations, or condolences, whichever you feel is appropriate at the moment. :)
I was just talking about this shooting, not whole history. Still you have a point. If he had contacts for the travel, and fake passports (of course a Somali one is pretty cheap) then he probably still had them to help get the SUV-pickup cross, and "clean" folks to pick up the firearms at a pawn shop or something.
He probably didn't buy it. He may have stolen it, or had someone else buy it for him. But, an SKS is not an "assault type weapon. It simply a semi-automatic firearm, firing a cartridge with ballistics similar to a 30-30 used for deer hunting for probably over a century. And only marginally higher rate of fire.
I don’t know but he was sure trying to get credit for it. Like he singlehandily saved the day or something.
It wouldn't be impossible. But this scrote has never been in the military. He's been in jail, learning to be a Jihadi.
