Candlelight vigil to honor (Child Murderer) George Tiller set for tonight in Wichita
Wichita Eagle ^ | 5.31.09 | SUZANNE PEREZ TOBIAS

Posted on 05/31/2009 2:49:00 PM PDT by libh8er

A candlelight vigil has been scheduled for 8 p.m. today at Old Town Square to show support for George Tiller's family and to oppose violence.

Dustin Deckard, 20, organized the vigil and is hoping it will be "a quiet show of support for Dr. Tiller and a moment to remember his medical and political triumphs."

Deckard, who supports abortion rights, called today's shooting of Tiller "akin to the murder of Harvey Milk," an openly gay California politician who was shot to death in 1978.

"With the situation today, I think that what side people are on is the last thing we should be arguing about," Deckard said. "The death of people's loved one is more important today than any political alignment."

Deckard is spreading word of tonight's vigil through Twitter, a microblog service, and other social networking tools. Questions about the vigil should be directed to dustindeckard@gmail.com.

Old Town Square is at Second and Mead streets.

I’ll wager with you that this guy is a staunch Democrat that voted Obama.

I like Miller Lite, Rolling Rock (12 packs) or a bottle of Bombay Sapphire.

We don’t even know if that was the motive yet.

May have been an ex-lover for all we know.

Are these supporters, going so far as a vigil in support of Tiller, fair game as accomplices?

They are as morally culpable as Tiller in his serial murders in the same way that all of us who called him a cold-blooded murderer before he was killed are morally culpable in his death.

We were all willing to call him a murderer until he was murdered. Now we are all condemning the guy who took us all seriously.

There is a lot of hypocrisy here. If abortion is murder, then we ought to be glad that no more murders will be committed by this guy. While we can ask for God's mercy on his wretched soul (something I don't think is going to happen) we ought to be glad that come Monday, he will not be killing any more unborn babies.

But then that would not be politically correct.

Poor Mr. Tiller.

If only he had been given the opportunity to live to be 90 or 100, he might have come to his senses and repented of his sin on his deathbed.

I am glad that come Monday morning Tiller will be murdering no more babies. You correctly insist that we view him as a murderer. He is.

And, yes, those of us who call him a murder bear some responsibility for anyone who would take us seriously and attempt to stop the doctor’s murdering.

At the same time, how would I justify myself being the executioner assigned to Tiller’s case?

I would have to hear personally from God. Otherwise, I would be taking God’s role as avenger without due authorization.

I wonder how many candles would have to be lit for his victims (not only the children but the emotionally torn apart mothers too).

SUCH a good idea. Pro-lifers in the area, attend and mourn for his thousands of victims. Don’t let this excuse for a human being get mourned as some kind of hero. Remind EVERYONE what he did for a “living.”

Sounds a lot like the Oklahoma City bombing episode that saved Clintoon’s presidency, right after he had to try to convince the press that he was “still relevant.” Clintoon blamed Rush Limbaugh and other conservative talk radio hosts for Timothy McVeigh, and of course, his henchmen in the press ate it up and made Clintoon into the greatest leader since Eisenhower.

Hello,

My son is 11, and very soon I will have to discuss with him what abortion is and why it is allowed.

For each child born since R. v W., do they understand that the Supreme Court ruled that they could have been killed? Do they get it? How lucky they are? They are ALIVE! And they can and do celebrate those that were not as lucky, those that die today and those that will die tomorrow and the next day, and the next, and the next, and the beat goes on and on.....

It hurts my heart that I must explain this to my son.

Why are you waiting? My girls have known this from about 6yrs old. They know that "a person is a person no matter how small". They have been taught that the people who get abortions are confused and many times lead to do it by others. My girls have also been taught that they can be forgiven this sin and that it is never justified.

I explained abortion to my kids this year. They are 10. They are incredulous that any human would participate in this act.

They are both adopted.

Hello,

Well, my son did not need to try to understand this at age 6. I wonder why your kids did.

It amazes me that while we are on the same side, you decided to slam me for not introducing the murder of children to my son when he was in 1st grade.

And BTW, my son knows that a “person is a person, no matter how small”.
