Could Easley investigation expand to Perdue?
Updated: May 29, 2009 06:36 PM EDT

WBTV (Charlotte) - Sources tell WBTV that the federal probe into former Governor Mike Easley's travel records and expenses may grow to include our current Governor, Beverly Perdue.

The FBI is investigating trips taken by Easley during his time in office.

The News and Observer in Raleigh reports, while in office, he flew on at least 25 private jets provided by several businessmen.

Easley didn't pay for some flights, and the value of other trips appears to exceed campaign donation limits. It's a matter of receipts. They were kept under lock and key until recently -- still some are missing.

Now, we've learned Democrats are worried about Perdue's travel records from the time she served as Lieutenant Governor, largely because we're told they're unavailable.

Highway Patrol says it simply didn't keep her travel records; former Democratic consultant Joe Sinsheimer finds that strange.

"It does seem odd that they kept the travel records for the governor but not the lieutenant governor," Sinsheimer says. "There is a fear in democratic circles that this investigation will grow and it could cross over from the Easley administration to the Perdue administration." ]

I sure hope so.

I cringe every time I hear her speak. It may be unfair, but she just sounds dumb.

It is amazing that she won. Most of the newspapers in the state didn’t support her and she didn’t campaign in Charlotte. She rode the 0ne’s coattails like a champion.

I watched her in a debate and she could not utter one coherent sentence.

And how did she repay the state employees and teachers that voted her into office?

With a wholesale pay cut.

North Carolina politics has been rotten since the 1950’s and the days of Kerr Scott.

We have just been more discrete about it in not flaunting it in the manner of IL, LA, NJ, etc.

But it is no better.

We have several ex high officials either in jail or just out of jail.

One state patrol commander fired for actively fencing stolen goods and using off duty troopers to work in the fence warehouse.

But until a few years ago, no one went to jail. They just went into a comfortable retirement.

Can you ping the NC list? Here's hoping that the witch of NC will go down with the previous overlord.

“And how did she repay the state employees and teachers that voted her into office?

Exactly. She also raided the “Education” lottery with the stated intention of not repaying the money. I wonder if this means we can sue to change the name from the Education Lottery to the NC Slush Fund or Stupid Tax.

I hope this investigation finds a thread that leads deep into the NC Democratic Party. I hope it makes Jim Black’s dealing look tame.

May I add my please, please, please, etc., to yours!!! In her heart, she knows that, if Obama had not been on the ballot, she would never have become the governor of NC.
