Shhhh! Don't tell Obama! We may be required by law to drive one of these in the near future! On the plus side, Ted Kennedy will never have to worry about drowning a friend ever again.

Ya, I want to do 70 MPH in that thing...

I’d much rather be on a motorcycle...

At least I’d have a chance...

I love how they sell both the Spira car, and Spira footwear, made from the same material.

I guess you have to buy a little trailer to tow along to put your groceries in.

because it uses a super-lightweight reinforced foam for 90 percent of the bodywork

How much ozone depletion would these foams do if this were massive scale production?

Lightweight foam car made for little skinny people with no luggage of passengers gets 100 mpg on flat terrain with no headwind. Yes, that will do it here.....

.....Don't drive this over the Mackinac Bridge!

I luckily escaped many bad (and potentially deadly) road incidents in South and SE Asia.

One main problem is that there’s very little insurance and few drivers are licensed. Another is that commercial drivers are very proud of their “skills”, even if those “skills” terrify their passengers or other drivers.

And as an American in Asia you’re (a) automatically considered at fault because (b) you are a walking ATM.

That will make the perfect Presidential Limo. And it will redefine NASCAR. The government will mandate that it be given a 200 lap handicap to make it competitive.

One actual use for it would be to restrict the license of anyone who has has two or more DUI convictions so that they could only drive these things. That way, they could keep driving and not hurt anyone or do any real damage. They wouldn’t survive the first crash!

Interesting. In the YouTube video, it looks like there’s barely room for ONE adult...the sneaker made or of the same stuff isn’t much smaller. And they think it’s SEXY??

Can this be the "new smallest car" that Government Motors-UAW is going to produce and try to sell to people in the US?

A mini Yugo made of foam

In a Capitalist country it will never sell!

And coming soon from Government Motors...

Spokesman: These days, everyone's talking about the Hyundai, and the Yugo. Both nice cars, if you've got $3,000 or $4,000 to throw around. But, for those of us whose name doesn't happen to be Rockefeller, finally there's some good news - a car with a sticker price of $179. That's right, $179. The name of the car?

Adobe. The sassy new Mexican import that's made out of clay. German engineering and Mexican know-how helped create the first car to break the $200 barrier. At this price, you might not expect more than reliable transportation - but, brother, you get it! Extra features: like the custom contour seats, or the beverage-gripping dash. And the money you save isn't exactly small change!

Jingle:
"Hey, hey, we're Adobe!
The little car that's made out of clay!
We're gonna save you some money
that you can spend in some other way!
Hey, hey, we're Adobe!
Hey, hey, we're Adobe!
Adobe!"

[ show Adobe driver get into a fender-bender. She casually steps out of the vehicle and uses her hands to mold her bumper back into its proper shape, in under six minutes! ]

Spokesman: Adobe. You can buy a cheaper car. But I wouldn't recommend it!

Announcer: Not approved for street use in some states. No warranty either expressed or implied. All sales final.

Imagine 70 miles an hour up the pass, then you hit a cross wind that can tip a 10 ton 18 wheeler. You would not swerve into the next lane, you would fly into the next county...
