In response to your May 27 editorial, let me explain why I vetoed $28.6 million of federal stimulus funds tied to adoption of universal energy building codes.
The feds required me to certify these codes "will be implemented" or pushed on local communities. My record is clear. I support conserving energy through weatherization and I'm an advocate for harnessing renewable sources of energy. But conditions here required more "big brother" government involvement than most Alaskans want and the new codes could cost Alaskans thousands of dollars per new home and renovation.

Government money always comes with strings attached!!
Hooray for Palin!!!
A good friend of mine insists "Palin's comment about "lipstick on a pig" was so stupid he couldn't have anything to do with voting for such a stupid person";the big media was surely successful in manipulating her image with him,and many others.

I asked the feds to clarify their position. The Department of Energy finally admitted section 410 and their previous statements were "inappropriate" for some states but still wanted an agreement to push model codes on all Alaskan communities. I said no. Beware of Washington, D.C., trying to cajole local community leaders to eliminate the choices Alaskans have when building or renovating homes and businesses. These new codes are so detailed they would dictate the kinds of lights that can be installed in a home in Akutan, and how thick window panes must be in Chignik.

Sarah will be portrayed as a radical by the media. She will be scorned by everyone on the left except the Muslim-man himself( who will let his cronies be the attack dog). Support the governor and people of her character and strength or our country as we know knew it will disappear

Thanks for the ping. I've noticed recently that stuff like this, statements on North Korea and missile defense or anything else substantive coming from her gets ignored by the national media. That seems to be their current strategy. Unless it's about salacious family stuff....nothing.
If she decides to position herself for a national run, she's going to have to come to the lower 48 and force herself into public view. She did 30 minutes with talk show callers the other day in Fairbanks. Very substantive stuff, including comments on cap & trade and L.O.S.T. She needs to do a few of those nationally.

It was Obama who said lipstick on a pig. Sarah never mentioned about a pig in her joke.

“It was Obama who said lipstick on a pig. Sarah never mentioned about a pig in her joke.”
Obama’s comment was made to insult Governor Palin. Her joke was “what is the difference between a hockey mom and a pitbull” and the answer was “lipstick.” Obama then made his comment which was “you can put lipstick on a pig, but it’s still a pig”, clearly an attack on Palin ,basically calling her a pig.Of course, there was no outrage in the media, none from any women’s groups.
Go tell your friend this and ask him if he feels like an ass for voting for such a stupid person now that he knows the truth.

I just love Sarah Palin. I may have to move to Alaska. I want President Palin in 2012. Whether it's by Sarah winning the election across all 50 states, which may not be too big a challenge if obama stays as incompetent and corrupt as his first four months have been, or if it's by my family moving to Alaska and helping that state secede from the union, either way I want an honest and responsible president in four years.
