(snip)

We asked Sen. McCain if he saw Whitman as the future face of the Republican Party and he said "yes." He also mentioned three current governors as the next generation of leaders. Noticeably absent from that list was his former running mate, Sarah Palin.

Besides being an idiot, McCain did not like being overshadowed by Palin.

“They were always jealous that McCain, on his own, had lackluster crowds of 2,000 or less, while Palin, on her own, drew tens of thousands of wildly enthusiastic supporters.”

The crowd fact has made me question whether McCain purposely threw the election. Had he won, he would have been overshadowed by Palin. His ego wouldn’t have alowed that. So did McCain purposely lose?

If McCain has a real problem with Palin, he should be man enough and say it instead of engaging in this passive-aggressive nonsense.

His only problem was one of ego. She overshadowed him...period. He didn’t bargain for that.

I think you’re right. If Whitman somehow wins the CA governor’s office, I just bet they’ll push her as an alternative to Palin in the future. Romney’s already coopted this hussy, and the GOP machinery is embracing her. If that happens, I’ll leave the GOP forever.
