A majority of Hispanic children are now U.S.-born children of immigrants, primarily Mexicans who came to this country in an immigration wave that began about 1980, according to a report released yesterday.
The analysis of census data by the nonpartisan, Washington-based Pew Hispanic Center charts a substantial demographic shift among the nation's 16 million Hispanic children, who constitute one of the fastest growing child populations in the United States and account for more than one of five U.S. children. As recently as 1980, nearly six of 10 Latino children were in the third generation or higher, meaning that their parents, and often their grandparents and great-grandparents, were native-born U.S. citizens. Only three of 10 were in the second generation -- born in the United States to parents who immigrated.
Now those U.S.-born children of Latino immigrants account for 52 percent of all Latino children, according to the study. The share of first-generation Latino children, meaning those who were born abroad and immigrated themselves, has dropped from 13 percent to 11 percent since 1980.
The findings are particularly significant because by many measures second-generation Latino children face significant challenges compared with their third-generation peers and non-Hispanic whites...And 40 percent of second-generation Latino children have at least one parent who is in the country illegally.
However, the study found almost no difference between the poverty rates of the second and third generations...The nation's 1.7 million first-generation immigrant Latino children, who are more likely to be in their early teens, tend to fare the worst: One-third live in poverty, 43 percent are not fluent in English and nearly half were born to parents who did not finish high school....
By 2025, nearly one in three children in the United States will be Latino, according to Jeffrey S.Passel.

An object lesson from the animal world:
Why don't Mexico and other Latin American countries take care of their iown people? Why do they instead encourage their poor to leave home and invade the United States? Nature provides a parallel that is instructive.
Some species of birds thrive not by carefully rearing their own young, but by pawning that task off on adults of other species. The European Cuckoo, whose distinctive call is immortalized in the sound of the "cuckoo clock," is the bird in which this habit has been most thoroughly studied. Female European Cuckoos lay their eggs only in the nests of other species of birds. A cuckoo egg usually closely mimics the eggs of the host (one of whose eggs is often removed by the cuckoo).
The host may recognize the intruding egg and abandon the nest, or it may incubate and hatch the cuckoo egg. Shortly after hatching, the young European Cuckoo, using a scoop-like depression on its back, instinctively shoves over the edge of the nest any solid object that it contacts. With the disappearance of their eggs and rightful young, the foster parents are free to devote all of their care to the young cuckoo. Frequently this is an awesome task, since the cuckoo chick often grows much larger than the host adults long before it can care for itself. One of the tragicomic scenes in nature is a pair of small foster parents working like Sisyphus to keep up with the voracious appetite of an outsized young cuckoo.
Which now leaves it to these stateless kids to create some kind of culture for themsleves, since their parents ran from their native culture and seek only what they can take from this one.
No wonder gangs are so popular. Mini tribes.
Why won’t polititions admit the anchor baby law is bad law and get rid of it.
It was passed so the slaves children would be US citizens, not anyone who stepped into our beatiful land and sh*t out a kid.
Constitutes total leaching on society. But that is their culture.
I think the simple parasite/host example in nature is a more succinct analogy.
Don’t we all?
What I described is called “brood parasitism” so we agree. And yes, they are the parasites and we are the unfortunate hosts.
Duuhhhhhh!
My niece is an OB/GYN who took her pre-med at HAAAAVVAAAAADDD! Needless to say, she emerged from that experience a FLAMING, BLEEDING HEART LIBERAL. (She
stopped catching babies and went into research when her malpractice premiums exceeded her annual earnings.)
Upon completing her medical training at yet another liberal university, she interned at a hospital near the border in San Diego.
It was there that a mystical transformation took place: She began to connect the heavy deductions from the slave wage GROSS EARNINGS for which she busted her butt for as many as 72 virtually sleepless hours in a row with the taxis and jalopies regularly sliding to the curb in front of the ER.
Many of them contained pregnant illegals who won the race to deliver their babies HERE. She caught many of those anchor babies who, under the current — and ERRONEOUS — interpretation of the 14th Amendment were IMMEDIATELY NEW AMERICANS. The mother who, obviously, could not care for the child if she were back in her native land — could not be deported now even if the INS and the political bosses WANTED her deported . And as the mother of a new US citizen, the woman could remain here for about as long as she cared to and that was usually for life.
Most of those patients were welfare recipients and the deliveries were charity cases: The bill for the hospitals and HER services were routinely spread over the bills of those who DO pay. And what the other users of those facilities don’t cover went back to the taxpayers.
And since my niece was now a taxpayer, they were costing HER.
And while she may not exactly be a libertarian, today shes now a LOOONNNNG way from Haaaavaaaaaad.
And just so the bleeders who might see this dont think me some sort of ethnocentric bigot, I submit this problem is MORE than just about illegals.
Before my oldest daughter was born at University Hospital in Cleveland in 1967, I sat in the main lobby as welfare mother-to-be after welfare mother-to-be shuffled through the door to the maternity ER for THEIR free deliveries.
Before WE could take OUR daughter home, I had to cough up over 3 grand. And that was a great deal of dough in 1967, especially for a guy just out of the USAF.
As I wrote the check, I remembered the magazine article Id recently read by a hospital administrator from Massachusetts who admitted that all US hospitals practiced a form of medical Marxism, spreading the costs of care for indigents over the bills of those who DO pay for care. Given the move to socialism here, it probably will never be otherwise: Not counting Byzantine complexity and confusion, government produces and has — NOTHING unless it first takes it from some PERSON. SOMEBODY ALWAYS PAYS.
The illegals have been using the emergency rooms of our hospitals for their health-care, almost always at no charge to them. That cost is either spread over other users or the taxpayers. We have seen a national epidemic of hospital closings due to their insolvency, much of it caused by the burden of trying to render care to PEOPLE WHO SHOULDNT EVEN BE HERE, denying care to native-born citizens who normally pay their bills and their taxes.
Look, I have a big enough problem paying for the 3rd and 4th generation slackers and welfare bums who were BORN here.
Its time we stopped paying for those who were not.
More is Not Necessarily Better
Population Growth through Immigration is Not Wise
According to projections by the U.S. Census Bureau, the U.S. population will double over the next century, and immigration will be responsible for two-thirds of that increase. Why should that concern usisnt growth good? In fact, growth is not intrinsically good or bad; what matters is how much. The human body serves as an excellent metaphor for human society in this respect. Normal growth, the stable production of new cells at the right rate to replace old ones, is healthy. Runaway growth, the creation of new cells that are not needed and that damage the environment for all cells, is not healthywe call it cancer.
Population Growth is No Longer Beneficial.
The United States has already passed the point where growth is good. In a report in 1972, an ambitious two-year study by a joint presidential-congressional commission concluded that continued population growth was no longer useful for our country. At the time, the population was only 205 million; now the population is over 288 million40 percent higher than when the commission saw no need for growth.
The idea of “anchor babies” needs to die a sudden and complete death - anyone who entered the U.S. illegally needs to be deported (and now), including any child born of a family who entered here illegally!!!!!
All of this "raging against the wind" feels good but that is about all it does.
I think if we want to preserve our heritage we had better get busy educating these "new americans" in what being an american is all about. We need to convert them. I have much better luck talking to these kids than I do talking to second and third generation welfare kids.
“And just so the bleeders who might see this dont think me some sort of ethnocentric bigot”
You say that like its a *bad thing*. Im ethnocentric, and rather opinionated about it.
A very good point, if you get that opportunity. Because of course, you’re right, nobody will ever deport them, ever.
The mothers of anchors CAN be deported, its just that we don’t do it often enough.
Please repost.
It’s the bigot thing I meant to stress.
UNREASONED prejudice is a problem.
REASONED prejudice — something we all do all the time when we make those necessary life choices — is a function of being human.
Did the picture come thru?
Your post says it ALL — and perfectly!
Bttt!!!!!
