Fox News Channel host Bill O'Reilly responded on The Factor tonight to criticisms of his attacks last night on Free Republic and Hot Air by the sites' respective founders, Jim Robinson and Michelle Malkin. The segment last night was on reaction by right and left wing websites on the Judge Sotomayor nomination to the Supreme Court. Free Republic was singled out for an obnoxious comment about Sotomayor being diabetic. Hot Air was singled out for an impolitic strongly worded appeal to block her nomination.
O'Reilly noted Malkin's reaction made on Fox and Friends this morning and Robinson's comments which were posted on Free Republic and e-mailed to The Factor.
O'Reilly agreed that both had points but that the sites should better monitor their comments as he does at his site and that O'Reilly would hold both right and left wing sites accountable.
Hot Air complained that the comment singled out by O'Reilly was labeled a 'blog' entry rather than a comment, thereby leaving the impression it was made by one of the site's official posters.
Jim Robinson's response was boiled down to Jim calling O'Reilly "an elitist gasbag" and noting that offending comments sometimes get past the moderators. O'Reilly did not inform his viewers that Mr. Robinson is a diabetic who has lost family to the disease.
The segment aired about forty minutes into the program tonight.

The Leprechaun?
Moreover, you’ll have to describe in detail your loofah and your falafel!
I'd much rather listen to Glenn Beck, Hannity, and Rush on the radio.
OReilly is full of himself and an apologist for Obama.
No offense, but I think most FReepers are way ahead of you.
The SAME Bill O’Reilly who was surprised at how well-behaved restaurant-goers were went he went to dinner in Harlem?
You have to wonder why Fox put Beck on in a timeframe (mid-afternoon) that gives O’Reilly no competition whatsoever. Beck’s show content-wise is far superior to O’Reilly’s.
Nam Vet
i LOVE the fact that BOR is feeling serious HEAT from Glenn Beck.
BINGO! I was reading, and reading and no one was saying it!
“OReilly would hold both right and left wing sites accountable.
Big B.O. is watching you!!
I mean, come on, it’s called “Free” Republic, not “Censored” Republic.
O’Reilly stepped over the line.
And it smells like he’s courting posters. Isn’t Fox’s whole board kind of a new thing?
Why would Bill take such a view?
A man in his position (one would think) should be able to understand that comments made from time to time on any site will be controversial to say the least.
IMO, Bill is making a mountain out of a mole hill.
He needs to focus on addressing real problems.

P.S. I plan to feature some "Bill O'Reilly blog postings" over the coming days. I may make it a daily feature. This is going to be the most painful 5 bucks Bill O'Reilly ever received.

O’Reilly’s interview of Barney Frank regarding the financial meltdown was a textbook case of hectoring, bullying ineffectiveness. He got all puffed up on his hind legs, and he ululated and barked, and he managed to make Frank look good by comparison. A remarkable accomplishment.
O’Reilly did not inform his viewers that he was, indeed, “an elitist gasbag.”
I agree.
Be careful. I said on the first thread about this that I have heard (from someone I have reason to believe KNOWS) that O’Reilly can be litigious. Not that that’s a bad thing, uh, Bill...if you’re reading. ;)
You are freaking kidding, right?
I bet he is going crazy seeing Franken another idiot become part of the government. How in heaven did our country get this way.Too much hollywood cultural!
BTTT...
