Syracuse, NY -- A Clay resident operating a Jaguar automobile without using a seatbelt was arrested Wednesday and the car was towed after telling officers that he was a Moorish national and "your courts are nothing," police said.
Ramost I. Bey, 36, of 103 Eagles Point Circle, Clay, was driving south on South Salina Street about 1:30 p.m. when an officer heading north saw him without at seatbelt. By the time the officer turned around and began following the car, Bey pulled into a parking lot of an auto parts store in the 4000 block of South Salina Street.
Bey, who was entering the store, had left the Jaguar unlocked with the keys in the ignition, police said.
An officer tried to issue Bey traffic tickets but Bey refused to give the officer his license, police said. Bey requested that the officer contact a captain because he was a "Moorish national," police said.
Bey would not follow orders to stand still and more officers were called, police said. A search of Bey turned up a valid commercial drivers license, police said. He was issued tickets for operating a vehicle without a seat belt and leaving a motor vehicle unattended, both motor vehicle violations.
"I am a Moorish national. Your laws do not apply to me," police quoted Bey as saying, "and your courts are nothing."
Bey said he would not go to court for the tickets, police said. Because of the likelihood of Bey not appearing in court, police placed Bey under arrest and had the Jaguar towed from the scene.
Beat ya...
He left the keys in the ignition. It sounds like a reasonable law, the idea being to prevent irresponible third parties from joy riding and possibly causing harm. The owner or operator of a motor vehicle has an affirmative responsibility to secure it.
dangit ... curse me for now reading the whole thread ....
When the Moors were conquering Europe, what religion did they practice? >>>>>
Quaker?
His last name is Bey, I wonder if he’s related to the criminal Beys who ran “Your Black Muslim Bakery” in Oakland, CA until they were busted for murdering a reporter.
Mook! It’s “Mook!”
Aren't they the religion of peace? Would a female Moor be a Morette?
I forget. When the Moors were conquering Europe, what religion did they practice?

Not Mr. Bey’s religion, that’s for sure. Mr. Bey is a follower of Moorish Science, a 20th century American religion who believes African Americans are actually Moors. It was founded by the same individual who also founded the Nation of Islam, the black muslims. Very few religious founders start more than 1 in their lifetime.
Among other things, the Moorish Scientists all adopt the last name “Bey” or “El”. If you run into someone with that last name, its more than likely than not that they are either a member or descendent of a Moorish scientist.
It might sound reasonable to someone from MASS, but from where I'm sitting it sounds completely RETARDED. Reasonable? That's rich..
Nah, Moormon :>)
The car should remain impounded and released only upon the presentation of proper credentials by the Moorish Ambassador.
How can you be a national of a non-existent country?
Lets see your passport and visa you idiot.
That’s the Nation of Islam dogma, that African Americans are all mohammedans on the basis of their race.
Moorish Science adherents are a bit more unusual in their teachings than Minister Farrakhan et al.
Ignatius J. Reilly was right!
Apparently their Nation exist within the confines of the State of Maryland, specifically a suite in an office block in Balitmore (hay maybe thats where the name comes from BaltiMoor)
Registration process through the Moorish National Bureau of Vital Statistics begins at National Headquarters, located at 2530 North Calvert Street, Suite 101, Baltimore, Maryland, 21218.
Don’t you mean a “Mooroon”? Funny, he doesn’t look Moorish.....
Watch out for that home page... it came up as “infected” dangerous etc
