DODD-ERING POL 'DONE' (poll shows Dodd ousted by Repub)
NY POST ^ | 5/28/09 | DAPHNE RETTER

Posted on 05/28/2009 9:18:55 AM PDT by Liz

A Quinnipiac poll shows embattled Sen. Chris Dodd (D-Conn.) would be ousted if elections took place today. Repub Cong Rob Simmons wins over 30-year Dodd 45-39....two months ago Dodd lagged 50-34%. That poll was conducted soon after Dodd wrote legislation that let AIG pay millions in executive bonuses while receiving tax dollars to stay afloat.

Senator Dodd Calls For His Own Resignation; Barney’s Fannie May Be Hanging Out, Too
FR Posted March 21, 2009 by smoothsailing
By William Kevin Stoos, Canada Free Press Sat, March 21, 2009

"I am such a scumbag, I think it is time for me to go down."

SATIRE In a rare moment of candor and self introspection, Sen Chris “Always Interested in Gifts” Dodd, Chairman of the Senate Banking Committee, called Stoos Views today to confess that he is a “hypocritical, duplicitous no-good scam artist “ [sic] who has shaken down Fannie Mae, and Freddie Mac, obtained preferential loans from Countrywide, and was the beneficiary of $103,000 in contributions from AIG, during his recent failed 2008 Presidential election campaign.

Dodd used his interview with Stoos Views to announce his upcoming second offer of resignation. “I think it is time for me to go. Even I cannot stand my own hypocrisy,” he told Stoos Views reporter Hugh Betcha, this week. “Here I am, in a position of public trust, taking enormous contributions from entities that I am supposed to regulate, and hoping no one would notice. Well, the public has found me out once again and I feel ashamed to be in the limelight. Let’s face it, I am a crooked politician and there is no arguing that."

" After all, I was not only one of the biggest recipients of money from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac—taking well over $100,000 from them-- but I also shook down the big dollar execs at AIG for campaign donations as well. Boy is that a mess now. Since I have been caught at that as well, and since the country is in an uproar over AIG, I am going to give back all those contributions as a sign of my “good faith.” And, frankly, to cover my..........(Excerpt) Read more at canadafreepress.com ...

Barney Frank got totally excited when Dodd said, "I think it is time for me to go down." Rahm Emanuel sprang into action. Rahm instructed Dodd to send a memo to Barney Frank: "Calm down, Barney, this is not what you think it is." Unfortunately, Rahm's message came too late. Barney had already left a message for Chris Dodd ......saying that he could not wait to see Dodd's (cough) package."

This is Peter Schiff’s state? It be a shame if Schiff doesn’t run or dont have support from RNC because they already have a candidate

I read somewhere where Dodd will be getting a pretty formidable Primary Challenger on the Dem. side. Has anyone seen that?

Of course he will. The libs will never give up their 60 seat majority even if that means Dodd will have an 'accident' of some sort.

These generic polls are worthless right now other than to indicate Dodd is vulnerable. Until the Republicans have a candidate, don't get excited.

After Dodd loses his Senate seat, let’s see how long it takes for his young trophy wife (who has profited handsomely from his political connections) to kick him to the curb...

If a very strong “D” does run against Senator Dodd, then they would definitely be favored to win the whole thing in the very blue state of Connecticut. It would make sense that this is what will happen, but I’m still hoping that I’m wrong about my predictions and that a “R” does pick up this seat. My other concern about this race is, even if a “R” does win this seat, the “R” will still be a RINO who will often vote with the “D’s” on many issues, and this is not a good thing.

I read somewhere where Dodd will be getting a pretty formidable Primary Challenger on the Dem. side.

Obama is not going to let any of the Dems lose. Keep in mind the trillions dollar stimulus bill was aimed at bailing out Democrat states. Obama’s “stimulus” is a sleazy Dem re/election gravy train-----buying a permanent Dem majority with our tax $$. No one outside The Democrat Machine will get stumulus money. All of our tax $$$ will stimulate sleazy and corrupt Dem candidates' re/elections....plus whatever the political bums can wire-transfer offshore.

For example: In nearby NJ, Obama is blanketing the state with stumulus to save the a** of the unpopular Dem governor. Note the cunning strategy----minority areas are blanketed with OUR TAX DOLLARS:

$2.6 billion for Medicaid assistance,
$1.3 billion for state "fiscal stabilization,"
$651 million for highway infrastructure,
$524 million for mass transit,
$279 million in Title I grants,
$200 million for clean water programs,
$121 million for "weatherization" assistance,
$101 million for public housing programs,
$56 million for workforce development,
$34 million for child care development, and,
$27 million for community development block grants.
$609M for Dept of Ed swillers (unions).

REFERENCE--5/18/09--New Jersey political leaders said the state will receive more than $17B in total benefits from the federal economic stimulus act over the next three years. In Trenton on Monday, Democrat Gov Corzine and Democrats Sens. Lautenberg and Menendez briefed some 700 municipal and county officials about how they can get a share of the money. Corzine has set up a state task force to monitor distribution of the money, and the state has established a Web site to provide technical assistance for communities seeking funds.

He has not yet begun to fight. He has time to give money away and he will have plenty. The trillions will be dispersed in a manner to keep him in the Senate.

The takeover is complete and for ever.

Remember how zero lavished praise on Dodd for the cc reform to try & give him a boost?

I still can’t figure out who is more annoying to listen to than the other.

Dodd always makes me want to grab my tv set and hurl it as far as I can.

Correct. Like NJ, all GOP hopefuls will in the long run lose to the crooks and corrupters. Corzine will sneak it out in Jersey, Dood will win, Reid will win. Pubs cannot keep up with ACORN or phony voting deals like motor-voter. Now digitel voting will hurt Pubs. Just wait till Kos and Moveon figure it out how to vote in cyberspace with no stops or caution flags.

Interesting. Here in CT if I recall correctly, most of the ‘stimulus’ money went into the cities: Hartford, New Haven, Bridgeport, Waterbury.

In my part of the state (SE), only the two poorest cities got $$$.

Dodd is hurt by the class politics, in that he is associated with AIG which the left equates with fat cats on Wall Street. He might get ousted, but I fear he will just be replaced with some other Dem left winger, one the party can control.

If the poll this far out is showing Dodd down by 6 he will be elected, and probably comfortably.

In these big bright blue states, anything less then a double digit lead for the GOP candidate is not sufficient for victory.
