Anti-gay minister the Rev Ian Watson in ‘Nazi battle’ outrage

The Church of Scotland is moving towards a schism after one of its ministers compared an increasingly determined campaign against gay clergymen to the war against the Nazis.

The Rev Ian Watson railed against homosexual lifestyles, declaring that such people would not “inherit the kingdom of God” in a sermon that religious leaders and politicians condemned as deeply disturbing.

Mr Watson is a prominent opponent of Scott Rennie, an openly gay minister whose appointment to a parish church last year has caused divisions. Mr Rennie, a divorced father of one, lives with his partner, David, and has the support of his Aberdeen Presbytery. The Church of Scotland is due to debate his appointment at its General Assembly next week after a petition was signed by almost a third of ministers pushing for all gays to be banned from the pulpit.

A motion has been lodged urging the Church not to “train, ordain, admit, readmit, induct or introduce to any ministry of the church anyone involved in a sexual relationship outside of marriage between a man and woman”.

The path is not easy, but us Catholics, lutherans, Orthodox, Anglicans, etc do have common enemies like the communists, izlam, the pink mafia

Yes indeed! I suppose knowing that would be"deeply disturbing".

Maybe if they had read the scriptures from "Old Testament- New Testament", they would not have been so shocked by "GOD'S" truth.

I suppose what surprises me the most are religious people who don’t know a dimes worth about it. I can understand how a secular person who doesn’t give a damn about religion other than to deride it might not understand or even desire to but many totally ignore whatever isn’t compatible with the popular culture. I don’t need religion to know the sexual activism and its goals are wrong but those who claim to be believers should know from their religion well enough to know what is considered right and wrong.

A "sermon" some people found offensive," huh.

Sounds like he quoted I Conrinthans 6:9-10:

"Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God."

So, some people are disturbed because a pastor of a Christian congregation quotes scripture?

Meanwhile "strangers are devouring" their "fields in their midst."

declaring that such people would not “inherit the kingdom of God”.

Telling people otherwise is like condemning them to hell! I would not want to be in those shoes.

If this irresponsible slug left his wife and child to shack up with a cute young barbie-doll clone, he would be rightly condemned. Why is it that libs cheer when someone abandons a family for a gay relationship? Disgusting.

I wonder how many of God’s Churches would find some reason to get rid of this Minister. He is guilty of preaching the Gospel and many people will not listen to a sermon that attacks their pet sins.

Don't even count on that. I personally know of a minister from a mainline denomination who had an affair with his secretary, and ended up dumping his wife, living with the "barbie", and then finally marrying her---all without any interruption in his employment as a pastor.

Hey I hear you loud and clear. I used to be surprised by it too, but I have known too many "good people" who have attended Church in a Baptist, or other so called Bible believing Church all their lives, and yet have no personal knowledge of the scriptures.

In fact, if their sitting under a "feel good" pastor; chances are they'll never know any different, cause their never going to read it for themselves.
