So, you think that because one poster on FR comments that a diabetic supreme court nominee might not live to a ripe old age that all 350,000 of us are insensitive right-wing loons?
Got news for you pal. The owner of Free Republic (namely me) is diabetic and I've already lost one leg due to this despicable disease and the other leg looks like it's ready to fall off any day now. My sister died of complications brought on by juvenile diabetes at the tender age 43. I've out-lived her in years, but I don't think I'll be signing on to any life term judgeships. And I sure as hell wouldn't wish this disease on anyone else.
Hey, what can I say. My political enemies make fun of the one-legged old gimp every day of the week. Good thing I'm not as sensitive as you about such nonsensical non-issues.
And if it's impossible for a minority to be racist, then it's impossible for a diabetic to be insensitive. /sarc

I wish I had documented those times where we were actually yelling at the t.v., cheering for O’Really as he slammed into a liberal, Obama-loving, illegal alien loving, child rapist enabler, etc., so I could use them here to show you where I was coming from.
However, I don’t even want to go there right now because my comment had nothing to do with O’Reilly per se. I was making the point about how I would go about turning a situation like this (BOR making FR look bad) from a negative to a positive. How one deals when confronted with situations such as this directly affects the outcome.
I realize now that my point has fallen on deaf ears. I realize it has become quite the sport in cyberspace for folks to attack each other and toss old-fashioned manners out the window when having discussions. Just another sign of the times I suppose. Lord, I miss the old days.
Now that’s what I’m talkin’ about! Excellent letter, sir. I do hope that O’Reilly will respond.

I hit the abuse button. I don’t think you can say “demeritorious” here.
BOR already had a representative FR on to rebut his comments and FR ended up looking worse. There was no strategic prep for the interview and the only talking points made were “well, we TRY to get rid of the bad comments” and “everybody does it”. I woud have had stats on hand of the number of pulled posts and banned posters on FR since day one. At least that makes the point that you are on the problem but a few still slip under the radar.
Both reinforced BOR’s position that FR is full of “unflattering” comments. The only response to that kind of attack should be “the post was immediately removed and the poster banned, just as you do Bill on your own posting board when an unwanted vistor slips through the cracks”.
The problem with this incident is neither happened.
BOR’s only response to that would be “You need to do a better job” upon which you respond “We’re trying to a better job everyday, but please don’t broadbrush the entire site for the idiotic comments of a few, it’s not fair to the tens of thousands of reasonable and responsible BOR viewers who post there everyday”.
Every time he says, "And I can give you examples on both sides," I wanna yell, "Incoming!"
Your comment shows you are fully uninformed. Jim Robinson owns this site and can say or do whatever he wants with it. Your lecturing him is laughable.
The O is a dim bulb. His light went out years ago. So damn uninformed that he is not worth watching.

If I wanted to lecture someone, I would have put more time and effort into it. ;) I made a simple point. One that apparently has gone over a few heads. Yes, the owner of any website can say or do anything he wants. Absolutely. If I owned a forum, I’d expect to do as I please. However, I would hope that my friends would speak their minds even when they disagreed with me. But hey, that’s just me.
If you believe that this was the best way to react to this situation, then that is your right as well. I happened to believe there was a better way to approach it.

If you have principles and believe in them, it is perfectly alright to stand up for those principles and call people out for who they are.
You don't get your point across by beating around the bush! If some of us come off as being harsh because of that too bad!
I won't say that there aren't people that go over the top on this site sometimes, but they are usually silenced quickly if the statement is too offensive! You don't see that done on the left wing sites! They can and do say whatever they want. They are on par with Wanda Sikes. You know the wonderfully open minded comedian that wished Rush Limbaugh's kidney's would fail. Obama got a chuckle out of that little diddy.
And why can't people question her health. They were putting up obituaries for Cheney and basically declaring him near death more times than you can count.

This thread only reinforces BOR’s opinion. All he has to do is quote “Stuff a sock in it you bloviating windbag!”, from the owner no less, to reinforce his point. Then he can move on to 2 or 3 of the more colorful comments...and he probably will.
It’s called digging a hole and BOR is handing FReepers the shovels. He’s probably laughing his ass off right now.
FR is what it is and it isn’t going to change. FReepers should just admit it and then thank BOR for the free publicity.
You’re probably right. I guess it’s too much to ask for him admit there really aren’t any “right-wing nut sites”. It wouldn’t be fair and balanced.
