Reed, Dodd call for stronger sunscreen standards
May 26, 2009
PROVIDENCE, R.I.Two New England senators are pushing for stronger testing and labeling standards for sunscreen.
U.S. Sens. Jack Reed, a Rhode Island Democrat, and Chris Dodd, a Democrat from Connecticut, have introduced legislation that calls on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to require manufacturers to test sunscreen products against ultraviolet A and ultraviolet B rays.
Currently, officials say the FDA requires testing and labeling for sun protection factors, which mostly measures UVB rays that cause sunburns.
But they add the FDA does not have standards for UVA rays, a major cause of skin cancer and premature aging.

Meanwhile my doctor has my wife going out in the sun unprotected for 1/2 hour a day to get vitamin D. She’s used 50 SPF daily since she was a teen.
The nanny state, unconstitutional pukes need to do us a favor and commit suicide.
Reid, Doddd...STFU!
Was Dodd wearing sunscreen getting his gravy train deal mortgage? It was SO HOT!
Why don't they just make sunshine illegal and get it over with, because they are so much wiser and powerful than we are?
No, Reed and and Dodd are, indeed, a joke.
oh boy... I didn’t think this was the most important to pursue at this time, did you?
Can vampires wear sunscreen to protect them while they suck the blood of every tax paying citizen?
Fric and Frac ping.
Hey where does Charlie Crist come down on this important issue?
Maybe they bought stock in cosmetic companies; UVA protectants are considered to be either avobenzone or oxybenzone; here is the MSDS for oxybenzone:

Wasn’t there something about Nero fiddling while Rome burned?
The NOAA has already determined that we have passed Peak-sun; the end is near.
Thank you for the link.
This legislation is most certainly needed.
If over half the population is ignorant enough to vote for Democrats, what would make one think that most of the same people are inquisitive enough to read a product label?
The probably got a sunburn last weekend by making love on the beach.
Do Jack and Chris know something that we don’t? A stronger sunscreen will definitely be required in the vicinity of a mushroom cloud.
I have mild psoriasis and UV exposure (though not too much, obviously) is one of the best remedies for it.
Dumb and dumber can kiss my behind. They want to take my booze, my guns, my freedom and now my sun.
Eff them.
