Gay Marriage, Now With Less Support (drops 6 points since 2007)

Gallup shows support for gay marriage declining since 2007, when it stood at 46 percent. That number is now just 40 percent, with 57 percent opposed to legalizing gay marriage. More important politically is the fact that just over half of Democrats favor gay marriage (55 percent), and fewer than half of independents (45 percent) support such unions. Among Republicans the number is 20 percent in favor. All of which means that gay marriage remains a winning issue for Republicans, and one which will remain on front pages throughout the next election cycle.

Given the president's much praised powers of persuasion, one wonders whether the decline in support for gay marriage is a result of his oft-stated personal belief that marriage is between one man and one woman. Or maybe the left would prefer to credit Carrie Prejean for taking her case directly to the people.

The homosexual community have made a critical mistake in assault marriage. Also their tactics of intimidation and propaganda and constant in your face attitude has made many in America just want them to go away. Their pushing gay agendas in public schools, attacking religion, intimidating professionals, scientists, and anyone who disagrees and calling them bigots is losing the battle for them. People don't want society being remade into what is the norm in San Fransicko. We want two parent, Mom and Dad, families to be front in center not constantly being forced to watch Transgendered freaks having babies and men smooching on tv. Also the GOP should take note that being pro-gay is not a winning issue and never has been and will not grow the party unless you want to pick up liberals.

Most gays I’ve known are gay on the outside, but inside are very dark and unhappy people.

Yep, words AND symbols even. Who knew the harmless little rainbow once the sign of a covenant between God and man, associated with a pot of gold in Irish lore, and children's stories (care bears ring a bell?) is now a symbol of sexual perversion.

They've hijacked the word gay and the rainbow. Gripes me too.

You touch on an interesting point. IMO< much of the effort to make homosexuality mainstream, is merely an effort by homosexuals to convince themselves that their lifestyle is okay. I am by no means convinced, even they think it is.

I wonder what accounted for the trend shifts when the support for gay “marriage” peaked sometime in 2004, bottomed in 2005-2006 and then peaked again in 2007.

The pervert lobby here in Massachusetts has mounted (sorry,no pun intended) a shrill,dirty campaign to keep homosexual "marriage" off the ballot.That effort has,so far,been successful.The reason for this campaign is because they know damn well that poll after poll here shows that it would lose...and lose convincingly...if put to the voters.
