BREAKING NEWS

PHOENIX - The 4-year-old daughter of boxer Mike Tyson died at a hospital Tuesday, a day her neck apparently got caught in a treadmill cord at her Phoenix home.

Exodus Tyson was pronounced dead just before noon, police spokesman Andy Hill said. She had been on life support since the accident Monday.

Police said Exodus either slipped or put her head in the loop of a cord hanging under the console. Her 7-year-old brother found her and told their mother. She took Exodus off the cord, called 911 and tried to revive her.

Dreadful thing for the family, but where was the adult supervision?

Got kids? Keep them in sight every second of every minute of every hour of every day?

Thought not.

Last I read about Tyson was that he seemed to be past the craziness and trying to live a normal life with his family.

It isn't that they can't play with things that can be dangerous (what can't?), but there are those things NOT to be done. Anything around the neck is one of them--especially tied. Poking things in/at someone's face is another. The list goes on, but I don't want to hijack the thread.

This is a horribly sad moment for the Tysons.

We have that little cord on our treadmill and it pops loose if you fall,,it is connected by a little clip like a clothes pin. She must have gotten it around her neck at an odd angle.

Interesting, but how does that cause strangulation of a 4 year old who can't even operate the machine? Accidents do happen I guess.

My son and I were trying to figure out the same thing. The cord is supposed to fall off. We figure maybe she was playing with it and put it around her neck and maybe the machine started (on purpose or by accident if she put her hand up on the console while struggling). She might not have been able to keep up w/the machine, fell or almost fell, with the cord around her neck and was hanged.

Sad, whatever way it happened.

the cord is for shutting off the machine suddenly. When the machine is not in use it’s just hanging there.

this accident happened only within a mile from my mothers house. I will think of it whenever I drive down Bethany Home. Lovely homes there, but now that will be a very sad home.

Prayers for the family to heal.

From my experience you have to watch kids that age like a hawk. It only takes a few seconds.

This is a heartbreaking accident.

Liberals will make every treadmill maker and treadmill user pay for this for decades. Count on it.

How could you even disagree with me? You must be heartless.

From the article....

Her 7-year-old brother found her and told their mother. She took Exodus off the cord, called 911 and tried to revive her.

I guess reading comprehension isn't your strong suit!

Holy God,

Be very present with the Tysons as they endure this horrible nightmare. May Your comfort and peace surround them and may Your strength uphold them. You know every bit of pain that they are enduring. Hold them close to Your heart and send ministers of Your love to them. In the Name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

It is impossible to watch them 24/7 these little kids are quick.

Look at the little 2 year old boy who got out of his house. He was found ok a few days later, but it is impossible to stop them from getting hurt and even killed.

This family is heartbroken!!! It is terrible to lose a child. My God, send up prayers for them, because the mom is going to need it.

Yes, I actually saw a child in our Peds ICU who was in his crib next to the window, got the cord for the blinds around his neck, and had the same fate as this little girl.

Today, I cut all the loops and shortened all the cords on our blinds. I don’t live in fear of every thing that could go wrong with my children but there is no harm in taking precaution. Like someone up thread said, for a moment I imagined what I would feel like if it had been one of mine.

We put safety cleat fasteners next to the window, way up beyond the reach of little hands, and have nothing hanging near our windows that our granddaughter can climb.

" He got the Mom who called 911,,she is a physician if I remember right."

I think that Tyson and Monica Turner, the physician, divorced in 2002 so I don't know if she is the mother of this four year old. As a side note, I just learned that Turner is the sister of Michael Steele. It sure is a small world out there. Prayers for the family of this little angel.

THe cord doesn’t operate the machine. It is there to clip on your clothing so if you fall, it pulls loose from the machine and turns it off,,for safety. It pulls loose very easily but I guess you have to see it to know what I mean by the angle.

The machine didn’t have to be on for her to climb on it and the cord hangs down from the treadmill. My guess is she got on it from the front end and got the cord around her neck and it didn’t pull lose when her weight went on it. Her weight as a four year old wasn’t alot. My four year old is 30 pounds.

Her 7-year-old brother found her and told their mother.

And just what part of that suggests that the mother was even in the room?

Perhaps it is your comprehension of reading that needs help.
