If I didn’t do such a cunning and undetectable comb over I might find this interesting.

The good news is, this may lead to a cure for baldness. The bad news is, that it may lead to a baldness pill...which could possibly haunt us with the same frequency as the Viagra/Cialis/Levitra commercials.

1. New drug approval takes 11 years, typically
2. Would be the first approved gene-based therapy —longer than 11 years, then, most likely
3. Companies would try to structure the treatment so that doses would be required forever
Still very interesting, of course

a mammalian development professor For a moment I thought this said "mammarian development professor"...
I look at it as: "Less hair to comb, more face to wash."
I don't recall who said that first, but he was right.

There comes a point in a mans life when you stop praying for a cure for baldness, and start praying for something that would get rid of the hair starting to grow where no hair has any purpose. I'm there.

The study could lead to the development of a medical treatment against thinning hair, Saga said, but she added that she had no immediate plans for further research to develop a human application."I found what might be the thing millions of men are looking for. But I have no plans to work on it."
That's nice, lady.

Is it folk lore or true that baldness can be linked to your mother’s side of the family?
If that’s true, my husband is screwed. His pap was bald as a cue ball by 35...
Can’t we speed this stuff up a little? :)

I think the key to the importance of this finding, even if it translates well to human physical development, is: “a gene that is linked to early hair loss”, with emphasis on “early” hair loss, as opposed to the more prevalent hair loss that few human males avoid entirely as they age.

I take back all the bad things I’ve said about the Japanese. However if they did come up with cure for baldness, it would take our FDA about 30 years before they would approve it. By that time it will be too late for me.
