The car companies and their dealers are heavy advertisers in talk radio stations.

The Fairness Doctrine and “localism” are issues but it looks like Obama is already hitting his enemies where it counts, in the pocketbook.

The cutback in car advertising hurts outfits like Clear Channel, which distributes Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck.

Obama is hitting his enemies through their big advertisers.

The car companies and car dealers are also heavy advertisers in local television news.

This sob makes more nauseous everyday.

We have to work day and night to limit this Marxist's power with the 2010 elections!

Bingo! I believe you have gone directly to the crux of this strategy. Good analysis.

I feel you are correct in you assessment of this. I think the new dealerships will be Dealer Development stores, with MGF. and govt control, managed by minority's.

Folks, if you can stomach it,
read “the Turner Diaries”.

The “protagonist” is a racist,
but the author’s description of government actions was prescient.

Recently a black couple was lauded in the MSM for beginning
a “buy-black” policy of buying from black businesses only.
I am proposing a “buy-white” policy. In fact, I’ve already
instituted it in my life. Yesterday at Best Buy, I waited
an extra 10 minutes to give the sale to a white salesman....
although he told me repeatedly he didn’t work on commission.

But I will not buy anything from a black-owned business. In fact, I try to take it to the next level and buy only from white, CONSERVATIVE businesses.

Black servers get no tip from me. My son waits tables and he said the hostess is under orders from ALL SERVERS, including the black ones, to space out the black customers because they DO NOT TIP.

“Anti-Obama campaign contributions dictate which Chrysler dealers were shuttered?”

WELL, DUH....
I mentioned this the day that it happened.

You are dealing with FASCISTS here, folks. Throw out everything you ever believed couldn’t happen in America, because it actually IS happening.

This is basic Chicago-style Democrat politics in action. You secure YOUR position by destroying thiose against you, and anyone that supports them.

I’m not sure these stories are accurate. ...While it wouldn't surprise me if it were accurate, I think that it's just very likely that successful people (high-achieving car dealers) will be conservative.

Facts are correct, underlying supposition (Dealerships closed in political retaliation) may not be. However, I think that there's enough of an anomaly for some questions to be asked

makes zero sense to punish a successful dealership ...since when did the gov't ever do anything that was sensible?

Letter from a Dodge dealer
letter to the editor
My name is George C. Joseph. I am the sole owner of Sunshine Dodge-Isuzu, a family owned and operated business in Melbourne, Florida. My family bought and paid for this automobile franchise 35 years ago in 1974. I am the second generation to manage this business.

We currently employ 50+ people and before the economic slowdown we employed over 70 local people. We are active in the community and the local chamber of commerce. We deal with several dozen local vendors on a day to day basis and many more during a month. All depend on our business for part of their livelihood. We are financially strong with great respect in the market place and community. We have strong local presence and stability.

I work every day the store is open, nine to ten hours a day. I know most of our customers and all our employees. Sunshine Dodge is my life.

On Thursday, May 14, 2009 I was notified that my Dodge franchise, that we purchased, will be taken away from my family on June 9, 2009 without compensation and given to another dealer at no cost to them. My new vehicle inventory consists of 125 vehicles with a financed balance of 3 million dollars. This inventory becomes impossible to sell with no factory incentives beyond June 9, 2009. Without the Dodge franchise we can no longer sell a new Dodge as “new,” nor will we be able to do any warranty service work. Additionally, my Dodge parts inventory, (approximately $300,000.) is virtually worthless without the ability to perform warranty service. There is no offer from Chrysler to buy back the vehicles or parts inventory.

Our facility was recently totally renovated at Chrysler’s insistence, incurring a multi-million dollar debt in the form of a mortgage at Sun Trust Bank.

HOW IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA CAN THIS HAPPEN?

THIS IS A PRIVATE BUSINESS NOT A GOVERNMENT ENTITY

This is beyond imagination! My business is being stolen from me through NO FAULT OF OUR OWN. We did NOTHING wrong.

This atrocity will most likely force my family into bankruptcy. This will also cause our 50+ employees to be unemployed. How will they provide for their families? This is a total economic disaster.

HOW CAN THIS HAPPEN IN A FREE MARKET ECONOMY IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA?

I beseech your help, and look forward to your reply. Thank you.

Sincerely,

George C. Joseph
President & Owner
Sunshine Dodge-Isuzu

Here is a link to some analysis done regarding the Chrysler dealerships. Comparisons were made between the closing dealers and the other dealers in the Little Rock metro area, Las Vegas, and Joplin, MO. More comparisons need to be done in the other markets across the nation.

This is interesting. I think the real tell however would be the dealerships that stayed open when comparing to the ones that are closing. If the open ones show the pattern of donating to Obama then there might be a real story.

However as it stands it’s entirely probable/possible that the open dealerships donated to the GOP and non-Obama democrats at the same rate as the shut dealerships, thereby making the donations a null issue.

Next up: Obama goes after all those conservative NASCAR fans by telling GM and Chrysler/Dodge to drop sponsorship.

Just a thought...

Two of the largest Chrysler dealers in Iowa, owned by the Gabus and Deery families, are being closed. I wondered why until I read this article. Both were large donors to the GOP and Obama’s opponents.

I would expect most small businessmen to be at least nominally Republican. Do the non-terminated dealers skew heavily Obama? That is not answered by the study.

Between this and the arm twisting to get candidates to back out of races (http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/2258269/posts?page=14#14), also see the Gillibrand race in NY) we are looking like Putin’s Russia.

What’s next fenestration?
