Speaking from a different common law nation:

A common law nation that cannot tolerate its military officers wearing ceremonial swords in the presence of its civilian chief executive is in big trouble.

Common law nations depend upon the concept that the military is subject to civilian control. That necessarily means that military officers, as a matter of military honour, maintain loyalty to the constitutionally constituted civilian authority.

There is a bond of trust between the civilian authority and the military. This order is a breach of that bond.

honour

President Oblowme was conceived, born and raised in circumstances completely antithetical to the entire concept of honor, and went on to be groomed and assisted by people who despise the very notion of honor. A Communist has no use for honor other than as something to be used against the honorable.
