The campaign was featured in national newspapers and magazines and in-store at outlets selling DStv, the satellite network that broadcasts the History Channel in South Africa.

Too bad, as many history buffs are conservatives and will not watch the over the top propaganda shows, and maybe not watch HC at all, once offended.
Watched Nat Geo tonight, something about 9/11. Curiously, there was something missing. All of the raw video and audio footage of the people jumping out of the towers and the pictures of them after they hit, along with the screams of the people on the streets below. The MSM, and all the stories since, decided not to show that footage because it was too disturbing and too inflammatory. BUT, throw some ladies undies on some joker at Abu Ghraib, and it’s an international tragedy. And the ACLU wants to show any and all photos of prisoner abuse without regard to the consequences, under the auspices of transparency. I just want one TV channel to show all the footage of 9/11, all under the auspices of transparency, so we never forget what these Ba$t@rds did to us. Perhaps the History Channel could take this up. But I won’t hold my breath.
I just got a History Channel video, “Stealing Lincoln’s Body”, lotta fun, informative.
Great post. Disgusting from all sides.
History is not written by those who win wars, but by those who win the war to control the History Dept.
“Did the History Channel Run Virulently Anti-American ads overseas?”
According to the article the answer is “no”.
I find so little history on the History Channel anymore, that I rarely ever watch it.
Someone, can’t remember who, once said, “History is the agreed upon lie”.
Anything like the Absolut vodka ad? The Daimler-Chrysler ad?
I watched History International’s show “The Presidents” the other night. It was awful. They had a bunch of Carter and Clinton worshippers on there. Even the few Reagan Admin. officials they interviewed were Dems in reality, like “Rodham” Gergen, and they mostly dissed Reagan (and both Bushes, as well)
I don’t care if a network occasionally runs programming I completely disagree with as long as there is balance over all their programming. I find History Channel to be one of my favorites.
