You are absolutely correct. Your point is proven by how the Nazis treated the Karaites. The Karaites are Jewish, or siumilar to Jews in religion, but were recognized by the Nazis as non-Jewish in ethnicity, race. To get the approximate toll, you can start with the Jewish population of various cities and regions as of 1939 and then determine how many Jews from those places were still alive at the end of the war. The difference is approximately the number who died in the Holocaust--it's not precise because the pre-war statistics may not be 100% correct, and there would be some people who died of natural causes in that period and small children born after the last census who were killed.

On Sundays his mother always went to mass with little Paula. Adolf never accompanied her that far even when she begged him. Pious believer that she was, she appeared to have come to terms with the fact that her son wanted to follow another path; perhaps his father had said something to her.

The dirty little secret was the Stalin was every bit as anti-semitic as Hitler.

Stalin knew the Nazis were going to invade Russia, he even knew when he would do it.

And yet, he allowed the Nazis to advance well towards Moscow, over the parts of Russia where most of the Jews lived. Wasn't it convenient that in the meantime, Stalin allowed Hitler to take care of Stalin's own "Jewish Problem."

B.S.! There were plenty of Poles who risked their lives hiding the Jews, helping them to “blend in” by teaching them prayers so they could pray with Catholics, sneaking food to them, providing for their needs in countless ways! What a terrible statement to make.

And do you actually believe the number of Catholics, Pols and gypsies EQUALLED the number of six million Jews murdered by the Nazis?!?

So did less than six million Jews die in the Holocaust or for the past 65 years should we have been lamenting the deaths of six million Catholics murdered by the Nazis? (And let us keep in mind that the vast majority of Hitler's architects of death were practicing Roman Catholics.)

They are rewriting history to diminish the truth of the Holocaust — that six million Jews were targeted and destroyed. If they broaden that statistic with stupid lies, they (”Catholics, Pols and gypsies”) can grab for themselves the empathy rightly owed the Jews. Just look at the first comment on this thread.
