Does a President really have this much power? I thought there was a check and balance system to safeguard this kind of tyrannical power.

I does seem that all he has to do is say something and it happens. Who needs Congress?

He’s already using his tactics to rule us as king. He knows no other way.

There aren’t many checks and balances when ONE PARTY rules everything.

No.

I refuse to refer to him as the president.

There is are constitutional qualifications to occupy the office of the President of the United States and constitutional limits to the power of that office.

Hussein has not met nor abides by any of these constitutional conditions.

He is a counterfeit....an interloper of the worse kind.

Just my measly .02 cents.

Like father Like son:

As Obama’s father saw it, taxes couldn’t be high enough, so long as the collective benefited.

“Certainly there is no limit to taxation if the benefits derived from public services by society measure up to the cost in taxation which they have to pay,” he said. “It is a fallacy to say that there is this limit, and it is a fallacy to rely mainly on individual free enterprise to get the savings.”

Bent on the destruction of the Nation.

In this case yes he does. The reason being that the really, really smart Americans decided that the ONE would save us all.
The second reason is that those same really, really smart Americans elected a majority of Dumbs to the House and Senate.
So how is it working out for all you really smart people?
Amen.

When you elect a totalitarian demagogue to be President and put into the majority in the legislative branch his totalitarian party you end up with situations like this. They have already own the judicial branch by carefully placing activist judges throughout the land so there is no help there.

This is why I urged people to vote for McCain even thought he is a RINO, at least there would have been some veto power there and it would have kept the Dems too busy trying to knock him off to do much damage. I doubt that McCain wold have gone along with the wholesale looting of the treasury complete with billions for "community activists" like ACORN. I doubt McCain would be defunding the military and kissing Amadinejad's butt, either.

Hindsight is 20/20 and I know alot of "moderates" who are having massive buyers remorse over voting for Obama. I told them exactly who and what Obama and the Democrats are and what they would do only to be called a "right wing nutjob" by them, now they are sheepishly admitting that I was right. When they ask me what I think is going to happen over the next four years I tell them, most of them go a sickly shade of green and look like they have been punched in a very sensitive spot.

I also know a few conservatives who are now beginning to see what I had been telling them would happen if they sat the election out is all coming true. They are having their own form of "buyers remorse". They know what is coming next and it is making them sick to their stomachs.

"I thought there was a check and balance system to safeguard this kind of tyrannical power."

There used to be. Congress has long ceded its power of checks and balances to the executive and judicial branches.

Yes. The “checks and balance” part is called Congress.

Obama thinks he has Congressional Democrat Leaders by the short hairs and that they’ll do anything he tells them to do.

I’m hoping they’ll tell him, because of what they’re hearing from constituents, to go pee up a rope.

I’m not holding out hope for change; sarcasm here intended.

Ain't it funny how the tone has changed around here from back when those of us warning about this were being flamed?

I'll admit that my line of "wait until President Hillary Clinton has that power and see if you like it" wasn't an exact fit, but the point's the same.
