Calif. Job Market on the Upswing
NBC Bay Area | Fri, May 22, 2009 | Jessica Greene

Posted on 05/22/2009 12:49:57 PM PDT by nickcarraway

It looks like California's economy is trying hard to make a comeback.

The day after a study revealed the housing market in Northern California is seeing the light, new numbers show the state's unemployment rate also might be emerging from the darkest days of the recession.

California's unemployment rate dropped slightly from last month's modern record, falling to 11 percent in April. The state Employment Development Department says the jobless rate fell from 11.2 percent in March. But it is up from just 6.6 percent a year ago.

The news comes as the national unemployment rate continues to rise, increasing from 8.5 percent in March to 8.9 percent in April.

However, even though there are a few positive signs in the market, it's not exactly a screaming sign that we're out of the woods.

Stephen Levy, senior economist at the Palo Alto-based Center for Continuing Study of the California Economy, says the slight decline is a false signal that economic recovery has begun.

He says the state's economy dropped deeper into recession last month, with continued declines in construction, manufacturing and trade jobs. But he sees hope for a recovery beginning later this year.

Yeah that was before Ah-nold said he was going to cull out the public sector to fix the budget crisis. Gonna have to get illegal Mexicans headed south in droves for this state to ever come back.

Whaddya bet that the reason the numbers are falling is because of people exceeding their unemployment limits or leaving the State?

The Obama loving media of today is no different than Pravda celebrating the latest “glorious 5 year plan” under the old Soviet Union. There is nothing good happening in the economy with Obama at the helm, it’s actually getting much worse. California lost more jobs than any other state in April but somehow that’s good news. And where is all the economic growth from the $2 trllion dollar spending spree financed with loans from China?

From the L. A.. Times
1. 40% of all workers in L. A. County ( L. A. County has 10.2 million people)are working for cash and not paying taxes. This is because they are predominantly illegal immigrants working without a green card.
2. 95% of warrants for murder in Los Angeles are for illegal aliens.
3. 75% of people on the most wanted list in Los Angeles are illegal aliens.
4. Over 2/3 of all births in Los Angeles County are to illegal alien Mexicans on Medi-Cal , whose births were paid for by taxpayers.
5. Nearly 35% of all inmates in California detention centers are Mexican nationals here illegally
6. Over 300,000 illegal aliens in Los Angeles County are living in garages.
7. The FBI reports half of all gang members in Los Angeles are most likely illegal aliens from south of the border.
8. Nearly 60% of all occupants of HUD properties are illegal.
9. 21 radio stations in L. A. are Spanish speaking.
10. In L. A. County 5.1 million people speak English, 3.9 million speak Spanish.
(There are 10.2 million people in L. A. County . )

(All 10 of the above are from the Los Angeles Times)

Less than 2% of illegal aliens are picking our crops, but 29% are on welfare. Over 70% of the United States ‘ annual population growth (and over 90% of California , Florida , and New York ) results from immigration. 29% of inmates in federal prisons are illegal aliens.

Hmmm. Data point of one month does not a trend make!

Notice how they project (hint, hint) that the Democrat's promise that they would spend us to prosperity, would kick in around the end of this year. Like they did to the overall national figures earlier this year, but have since had to retract those estimates with the predictions from economists that unemployment will drop to over 11% by the end of this year.

And wait till the coming winter, when we are likely to go even beyond 12%, perhaps 15% or more. The effects of Obama’s agenda will drive more business away or cause rampant failures. Based on the fact that for every “green” job created, there will be 3 regular jobs lost.

It’s not even a real data point. It’s within the statistical MOE and it will, in all likelihood, be revised upward in a couple of weeks.

This is propaganda, just like everything else with the NBC stamp on it. California’s just as screwed today as it was yesterday.
