SNIPPET: "SANTA CRUZ, Calif - Homes on 25th Avenue in Santa Cruz were asked to evacuate for a second time on Wednesday night after police found more hazardous materials in a nearby home that made them nervous. Homes within a 300 diameter of 215 25th Avenue had to evacuate, however it was not mandatory.

All residents were able to return to their homes by 8 p.m. on Wednesday night."

SNIPPET: "This all started on Tuesday when the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office received a call from the County Environmental Health Agency. They received a tip from a local freight agency that was scheduled to deliver 350 pounds of dangerous substances to 215 25th Ave.

The man living in the home, Stanley Vallelunga, 35, was arrested Tuesday night for being under the influence of a controlled substance.

Stanley Vallenlunga has been released on bond. He has not yet been charged with a crime related to the explosive materials."

Hmmmm... I use to live in Santa Cruz long ago and there aren’t too many “right-wing extremists” there. Could this fella be a left-winger nutjob terorist?

“Explosives cache leads to massive search, evacuations”

By Jennifer Squires
Posted: 05/21/2009 01:30:04 AM PDT

SNIPPET: “LIVE OAK — The Sheriff’s Office Bomb Team seized more than 1,000 pounds of commercial-grade explosives and potentially dangerous chemicals from a house at the corner of 25th Avenue and East Cliff Drive on Wednesday.”

SNIPPET: “The original shipment of materials was not delivered, but during the search Wednesday, a UPS truck arrived at the home to deliver more potentially dangerous materials, Campos said.

Deputies and bomb technicians were at the property all day Wednesday. The majority of the chemicals, compounds and mixtures — stored in plastic buckets and cardboard boxes — were found in a metal shipping container next to the garage. Commercial and homemade fireworks were also seized, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Lt. Robert Pursley, commander of the Bomb Team, said the fireworks and explosives found on the property appear to be for personal use.”

Just like you I’m familiar with the area...I don’t think anyone right-wing lives there.

Beautiful area.

Basically, I’m just archiving this incident here.

I wonder what I would happen if it happened here. I generally have a shot and a beer with supper and wouldn’t leave the apartment.
