A Spy's View of Pelosi's War on the CIA

I paid with two death sentences—from my native Romania—for the privilege of serving the CIA, our first line of defense against terrorists and nuclear despots, and I am appalled to see the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives and third in line for the White House undermining the security of the United States for personal political gain.

Nancy Pelosi’s blistering public attacks on the CIA will severely damage its ability to recruit ranking sources in enemy countries for years to come.

No, the CIA officers will not run for cover—they are anonymous heroes, not cowards. But the potential high-ranking CIA sources in Iran, Syria, North Korea, China, Russia, Venezuela, Cuba and many other tyrannical countries will. Espionage is a matter of life and death. From my own experience as both intelligence recruiter and intelligence defector I know that no high ranking official puts his/her life in the hands of a foreign espionage organization publicly pilloried by its own government.

Trust is the most valuable asset of any espionage service, no matter it

Pelosi cares about only one thing - Nancy Pelosi.
The writer made a good point about humint. It is necessary, we can’t learn everything from sigint and imint. The CIA was criticized for “allowing the 9/11 attacks” - but they had no one on the ground, no one to penetrate Al Qaeda. Terrorists don’t paint signs on their roof and tent tops saying “TERROSIST”. Cell phones can be listened to - if they can be identified.
We had no one on the ground when we went into Iraq - they had to depend on other agencies and dissident groups for information.
Politicians don’t like spies; after all “Gentlemen don’t read other gentlemen’s mail”

“...the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives and third in line for the White House undermining the security of the United States for personal political gain.”

Actually, there’s very, very little most politicians won’t do for personal political gain.

That is a good response the charge of “a war based on lies”. We based our decisions on what we had at the time, which wasn’t much due to the non existent boots on the ground intelligence. Why did we have no intel? Because that seems to be the goal of the Democrats when they are running the show. Also because Clinton blinked when Saddam kicked out the UN inspectors.

From the Gorelick memo to the directive that our sources be as pure as Sunday school teachers. The Democrats tie the hands of the intelligence agencies at the insistence of the radical left.

I fear a unrestrained CIA and FBI, but there is a balance to be achieved.

“I am appalled to see the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives and third in line for the White House undermining the security of the United States for personal political gain.”

With the exception of Dems who have leaped to her defense, everyone’s appalled, but no one is surprised. This wasn’t exactly out-of-character behavior for Pelosi.

Hey yall, this is nothing new. Since the 80’s, the dim party has switched loyalties from our country and it’s citizens to the party only. Look at their actions.

All these calls for waterboarding Nancy Pelosi... are so lame!

Start pushing needles under her fingernails... then heat them with a cigarette lighter.

Now, that's torture... Nancy can appreciate!

From the Gorelick memo to the directive that our sources be as pure as Sunday school teachers.

Much like undercover cops intelligence officers have to recruit informants from terrorists, criminals and low life types. Not much can be learned from nice gentle people.
How much could LEO's learn about crime if they only recruited informants in church?
