Kris Allen wins
May 20, 2009 | vanity

Does anyone else think Kris Allen, who was very good won American Idol over Adam Lambert who was great because Red Staters siad "No!" to Lmabert for reasons other than talent? Lambert is the best ever on the show, but I think he was denied because Red State America has had "enough." I hope I'm wrong, just thinking out loud.

“I think the pimping was his downfall...although not his fault. He is on the cover of Entertainment Weekly by himself...What BS is that? Katy Perry having that stupid cape with his name alone...Ridiculous. and Simon pimping him a few weeks ago all had a lot to do with his loss.”

It was so very obvious who the media was pushing, gag. That Perry thing was in bad taste as well as the show promoting Adam so blatantly. I voted my butt off because the whole media thing ticked me off and I liked Kris better.

Yes, I think some blue-staters voted for Lambert because of their social ideology. LOL.

I think Lambert was the superior singer, but his musical taste is so eclectic that it was lost on some folks.

Whereas Chris, who is clearly a stunning, well-rounded musician (if not the apex vocalist that Adam is) made every song his own, but in a style with far wider appeal.

I'm a little surprised that Chris won.... But I'm not shocked.

People are entitled to vote for whom they like... That;s normal... charm is part of the game. And Chris displayed a bit more sincere humility and is very affable.

All of the top 4 have great careers ahead of them anyway.

“Whether the West Coaster click it or not, the title already gave the winner away. I for one click on the thread so I can make a snarky remark to the poster.”

Why are you telling me this?

I voted for Kris and am so glad he won.

Being current is a big factor on the show. When Adam first auditioned, he got four yes votes, but Simon said that Adam was theatrical and thus he wasn’t current. I think that, not his orientation or politics, did him in.

I voted for Kris. I still think Adam will likely have a huge career. Heck if Gene Simmons takes a liking to him then he will have a huge leg up, Simmons is the man who discovered Eddie Van Halen, look where that went.

Well it could be that as many or more folks liked Kris Allen.

The majority did like the church music director over the cross-dresser.

What kind of songs would Adam sing? What radio format?

Maybe he could take Freddie Mercury's place in revamped Queen.

Kris will have as much success as Taylor Hicks.

I think will have a more comparable career to Jordan Sparks. He isn't nearly as quirky as Hicks.

Adam just has an enormous presence.

In an over-the-top, Rocky-Horror-Picture-Show sort of way.

A moment of sheer human weakness, now steeped in incredible regret.

It's all about market niche. The people that run this competition aren't stupid. That, and Kris was proficient in at least three instruments: voice, piano and guitar. Even Kris does not realize how rare this combo actually is in this day and age.

He actually plays violin as well. He was an all-state champion in high school and received scholarship to do music but he declined and picked business major instead. He also wrote several songs, including the one about his experiences as missionary in Thailand.

“Huh? You take a lot for granted. I am at a loss to figure out how you came up with that red state crap.”

It’s been all over the news. The MSM has been pushing this issue for a couple of weeks that Adam is more talented but the red states and Christians won’t vote for Adam because he is gay.

I voted Kris because I think he has the talent. Adam is too theatrical. I usually don’t vote but I did when I was challenged by MSM.

"I did watch a little gunsmoke when I was young. I watched 2 reruns of gunsmoke on TVLAND. Why did they replace Chester with 2 people named Fester and Muley?"

Dennis Weaver (Chester) left the show in '64 after 9 years because he was offered a starring role in his own series, "Kentucky Jones." Festus (Ken Curtis) joined the show in '59 and Newly (Buck Taylor) in 1967 and both stayed until the end in 1975.

He ain’t metro, honey— he’s a full-on, unashamed and unabashed homosexual... which is worse role model for young men.

Popular culture is part of American life.

With the way the culture is today, it will be a part of its death.
