Conservative PAC Uses Facebook to Garner Over 10,000 Members

When Barack Obama won the presidential campaign of 2008 along with sizable Democratic majorities in the House and Senate, many conservatives say that they knew things were going to get worse for America. They just didn’t know how bad it would be -- but it’s becoming clearer and clearer with each day, according to political activist Sal Russo.
"We’re under assault from liberals in Congress who have gone on a spending spree to the tune of over $10 trillion. Taxpayer-funded bailouts have been passed against our consent. Taxes are being raised. And now the Obama Administration is warning law enforcement to focus their attention on the dangers of conservatives," wrote Russo in a press release announcing his organization's multi-media membership drive.
The Our Country Deserves Better Political Action Committee (PAC) recently launched a Facebook.com page to increase its membership. To date, they have attracted over 10,000 members and counting. They hope to continue to increase their members and donors in order to fund their upcoming projects.

In addition, they are planning an RSVP program for the upcoming "Tea Party Express" that takes place this August 28 - September 12 in cities throughout that nation.

The FreeRepublic on Facebook group is close to 550 members last time I checked.
Actually, this is a great use of technology for interconnectedness. I’ve reconnected with old friends that I would have never found otherwise that share my political and religious beliefs. It’s quite a backbone strengthener to realize how much of a non-minority opnion we are.

There is a FR group on MySpace, but like most of MySpace, it is unused. The FR Twitter is one of the best Twitters I’ve seen.. someone is linking every single article posted here on Twitter.
When you join FB and search for the FreeRepublic group, it is the one with no space in the name..

We are moving forward on our rally in Washington D C.
We are working non stop in preparations for this historical event to be held Sept 12-13 2009 at the Lincoln Memorial Reflections pool in front of the Lincoln Memorial.
As for the time, The million man march that took place a few years age took over 2 years to organize, we are trying to push this through as fast as we can.
To protest in DC you have to have a permit and have approval to use a certain piece of land.
We called ahead of filing for these things. September 12 &13 were the next available days they had.
The other organization, resistnet.com, which was putting together a march for May 30, didn’t do this so they were refused their permit. Now they are joining with our group. So, we are doing this absolutely as soon we can.
To have a successful march takes time and organization.
Why are we protesting ?
1. To get the attention of the mainstream media.
2. To demand That Obama Provide proof that he is eligible to be president.
3. To demand that Congress and the Supreme court uphold our constitution.
4. To inform the public on the issue of Obama’s ineligibility to be president of the USA.
5. To demand that they can not take our constitutional rights away.
PRESIDENT OBAMA, WE DEMAND THAT YOU BE TRANSPARENT NOW
We will come together in a peaceful rally.
We are proud Americans who fear that we are losing the America we all know and love.
The America where millions have served in our military sacrificing their lives so that we remain free.
A people who honor their flag and understand what it means to fly it and are so proud to do so.
It is time for our voices to be heard loud and clear. Our government is for the people and by the people.
We are Americans who see our rights slipping away as we speak.

Yea these things build on each other. Obama and the DNC under Dean used that to great effect when doing on-line organizing. Hopefully we can get enough people together often enough.

I, unfortunately, learned how little I have in common with anyone I knew in college and those strange years immediately after college. (Okay, so I was pretty immersed in the music and club scene, so go figure.) But I realized that I had "lost touch" with certain people for very good reasons, even though I hadn't known it at the time. It was kind of unsettling though, feeling like I wasted a huge chunk of my life on people who really shouldn't have mattered so much.
