Poll: Most will vote 'No' on Proposition 1A [California taxes]
LA Business Journal ^ | 05/15/09

Posted on 05/18/2009 10:10:20 AM PDT by freespirited

Among the various propositions on the special ballot coming up is Proposition 1A, which will keep higher personal income taxes and car registration fees for two more years starting in 2011, while establishing a spending limit, restrictions on the so-called “rainy-day fund” and return $9.3 billion for education if Proposition 1B also passes.

The proposition was the subject of this week's Los Angeles Business from bizjournals Business Pulse survey.

The results for the question "How will you vote on state Proposition 1A?" broke down as follows:

No, because this is nothing more than a quick fix that does little to solve the state's long-term financial problems -- 76 percent

Undecided, just like the politicians who put this proposition on the ballot -- 16 percent

Yes, for lack of a better, immediate solution to the state's budget shortfall, even if you're against raising taxes -- 8 percent

I'd like to see 100% vote no, but I'll settle for 76%.

Oh woe to us Californians if 1A fails. Our houses will burn down, our stores will be looted, our women will be stampeded, our cattle will be raped.

Not since the Gray Davis recall (I know, I know- the Governator was hardly any better) have I looked forward to voting on a California ballot. No, No, No, No, No, Yes.

Really? I thought that was what was going to happen if Prop 8 was upheld in the California Supreme Court

Hey Arnie, try these budget measures first:

1) Stop funding health care for illegal aliens
2) Stop funding education for illegal aliens
3) Stop funding housing substities for illegal aliens
4) Stop funding income substities for illegal aliens
5) Transfer all illegal aliens in state prisons to federal prisons

May ALL these props go down in flames. There’s no solution to CA’s den of political corruption and out of control spending other than to starve the beast.

They act like spoiled children and threaten to fire police, fireman, and teachers instead of doing what we ask them to. Stop spending. Stop rewarding illegals. Stop enriching the unions. Stop hiring so much middle management.

Let me add to the list. Cut the entitlements.

Cut workers compenstation 20% and cut welfare 20% for openers. My income is down more than that and I’m paying taxes where these people are paying none.

Doesn’t matter - the State Supreme Court will overrule the voters just as they did on the other props.

I get a kick when ultra-RINO Hollywood clown Arnold keeps staking his political future on meaningless political smoke-and mirrors and gets kicked in the groin by voters every time. What a great standard-bearer for the GOP: Rich, clueless, and totally alienated from the reality of normal people’s lives. America’s political elite class is in a time warp, much like the European aristocracy just before the Reign of Terror or the Great Wars. With any luck they will soon have the same fate.

And they figure that if they scream loud enough and predict doom, gloom and despair,, they will win in the end.
