No worries mate, like I said, it’s just a personal pet peeve. Kinda like when people post things like “Lincoln High School on Lockdown” — ummm, WHERE?
If it didn’t happen every single day it wouldn’t be a big deal, but it does, so you’re definitely not the only one.

A person i knew once told of being on the commode when the Sylmar quake hit in 1971. Said they were thrown off the ‘throne’ and the contents came out. Said the experience was not at all funny.

Sorry! Wasn’t referring to you, of course! Just couldn’t resist the “mo damage” typo. Today’s kids say “That’s so, like, gay!” Back in my day, the ‘60’s, we always said, “What a Mo.” I’m hopelessly outdated!

No offense taken, Doc, I just have a kinda twisted sense of humor, since I was referring to the word in its former meaning...

Heard that story.
(Two houses went down in my parent's neighborhood & their elm tree "grew" a foot.)
Now I can empathize; watching, from the inside, while a two pane shower door rattles and leaps around is a real motivator.
The neighbor kids will probably be reminding me of how I look in a pink chenille bathrobe until I move or they go to college.

Thanks for the info. I live on the shores Humboldt Bay Ca the earthquake capital of Calif where we had three 7. shakers in less than 24 hours back in 92 I believe. The “Triple Junction” is just off shore and I am on a first name basis with Prof Lori Dengler at HSU. We are due for a 9+ as it occurs every 200 years or so and some of our property is in the liquefaction zone...

Try this little “liquefaction” demo at home:
Fill a regular baking tray with clean, dry sand to about one inch in depth. Set a few small objects of various size and weight on top of the sand. For example, you might use a “Pink Lady” type pencil eraser, a marble (or small pebble), and a quarter.
Pick up the baking tray, hold it flat in front of you, and shake it side-to-side; gently at first, and then with increasing force.
Note what happens to the objects you put on top of the sand.
Try repeating the experiment a couple of times after adding water to the sand. Do it once with the sand moistened throughout, then again with the sand thoroughly saturated, though not to the point where there is standing water on top.
