Why the drop after 1960? (in deaths of women from illegal abortions)
The reasons were new and better antibiotics, better surgery and the establishment of intensive care units in hospitals. This was in the face of a rising population. Between 1967 and 1970 sixteen states legalized abortion. In most it was limited, only for rape, incest and severe fetal handicap (life of mother was legal in all states). There were two big exceptions California in 1967, and New York in 1970 allowed abortion on demand. Now look at the chart carefully.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Abortion Statistics - Decision to Have an Abortion (U.S.)
· 25.5% of women deciding to have an abortion want to postpone childbearing
· 21.3% of women cannot afford a baby
· 14.1% of women have a relationship issue or their partner does not want a child
· 12.2% of women are too young (their parents or others object to the pregnancy)
· 10.8% of women feel a child will disrupt their education or career
· 7.9% of women want no (more) children
· 3.3% of women have an abortion due to a risk to fetal health
2.8% of women have an abortion due to a risk to maternal health
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So how many womens lives have been saved by abortion?
Only about 3% of abortions since 1972 were reported to be due to a risk to maternal health. A reasonable person would recognize that not all of those cases represent a lethal risk. But lets say they did. That means that nearly 45 million fetuses were butchered to save the lives of about 1.3 million women. Or put another way; 35 babies are killed to save each woman.
Abortion was legal in all 50 states prior to Roe v. Wade in cases of danger to the life of the woman.

Notre Dame will pay for this. I expect their alumni contributions will drop off a cliff and they will leave a bad taste in the mouths of staunch pro-lifers who might have considered Notre Dame for their children’s college education.

Little did I think that I would postpone my normal nap to watch a TOTUS speech... Well done to the people who protested this speech and are drawing attention to Obama’s policies.
A priest on CNN just insulted Raymond Arroyo.
..even he has maligned the protesters as 'radical'.
...disappointing.
Randall Terry...yes...
..but Alan Keyes, Norma McCorvey, Catholics of conviction....definitely not radical.
Thanks for putting the pictures up! I personally the group at #284.
I’m sure a “bailout” has been in the works for some time.
IS OBAMA FALLING ASLEEP??????????? LOOK AT HIM.........
I like Fr. Morris too but unfortunately he just called Terry an extremist, as if that’s something bad.
NOw the reporter covering the speech is insulting Raymond Arroyo.
supposedly there will be a protest during speech
Raymond Arroyo is doing a good job standing up for the Church.
Please Lord, let it be true.
Make that, I personally know the group in the picture in #284.
I was appalled at Geraldo last night on foxnews. Geraldo who totally supported Bill Clinton and his affairs as his personal business (which they were until he lied under oath) and said Clinton was a great president. Geraldo who has hadat least 3 wives and a few children and had affairs on all of them. Maybe not the newest one. I don’t know. Give him time.
He is asking a Catholic why they are protesting, the catholic says something like, we are Catholic, when we see murder we are to be outraged. Geraldo goes, I am Catholic, I am not there.
Those are not the exact words. Being Christian we are not to be a stumbling block for others. Geraldo does not seem to be someone who should be speaking out for Catholic’s. In fact it seemed as if he was saying anyone protesting was wrong. That was my take anyway.
Then the red haired student this morning at Notre Dame seemed to say unless you are Catholic all the protesting was being done for political purposes. Then the fox news reporter said the Pope had sent several messages of congratulations to Obama. As if that meant obama’s policies are okay with him. Which I think was totally misleading.
Then Keyes spoke this morning. He mentioned the infanticide and he spoke about his position on Notre Dame. I was impressed and proud of him. We live in a era of people afraid to stand up for their values and Keyes walked the walk.
I guess my point in all of this is, it appears that liberals are everywhere now. They are disputing the idea of Notre Dame being bound by Catholic principles. They won too. Obama is there.
I heard Michelle Obama recieved a Rock star welcome at the valley UC. But they are about $500,000.00 in debt over her coming. No one was willing to donate to pay the whole $700,000.00 total at a time the UC just raised fees another 10%.
Much more cute than the other Cutie.
Mea culpa, Mea maxima culpa.
Randall Terry just stated on Fox News there will be many in the auditorium who will protest during BO’s speech.
