Weve heard the cliché: there is a difference between campaigning and governing. But in the last few weeks the contrast between the two could not have been more stark. And the gap between President Obamas effectiveness at the former and shakiness at the latter is coming into focus.
Guantanamo is the most vivid example. As a candidate, Obama pushed the notion that George W. Bush was a constitutional Neanderthal and destroyer of American values. Now hes discovered that it is really hard to figure out what to do with these really bad people. And hes even discovered the virtue of the Bush-created military tribunals.
Republicans have kept up the drumbeat, forcing Democrats to include limits on funding and demands to show them the plans before funding a Guantanamo shut-down. And it may be that there is no plan, no viable one to allow Guantanamo to be closed. ...

obozo’s competence = sKerry’s = 0
What? David Letterman’s writers have been telling us that Obama is so competent that they can’t make jokes about him. And apparently, neither can anyone else in showbiz.
No, no, some mistake, surely.
The gap is so wide it could not be filled will all of the trillions of dollars being spent, layed end to end.
Why did he make so many pre-election edicts that we knew to be completely uninformed?
This problem is not that hard. Simply declare them honorable men who are prisoners of war, but guilty of no crimes, and hold them in a POW camp until Osama bin Laden signs an instrument of surrender.
Might be a while....
Which media whore is most responsible for letting this fellow become president without the least semblance of vetting with serious questions? Brokaw? Couric? Matthews?
He is so not vetted that it makes ones head spin.
Great cartoon. I think I read somewhere that the average Gitmo detainee has gained 20 lbs. during their detention. Of course, Obama’s new CDC chief—who has built his career on imposing ever-draconian rules on what New Yorkers are permitted to ingest into their bodies—likely would view this weight gain itself as “torture.”
My bet is that if Gitmo ever were shut down and the prisoners dispersed to other countries, some enterprising attorney would file a suit on grounds that prisoners were being denied the comfortable standard of living accorded them at Gitmo.
We are so screwed - so I bought more ammo this morning.
Thank you. I made that cartoon when we first opened Gitmo for this purpose.
Which is why I’m stymied why BHusseinO wants to close it; it makes no sense at all unless you chose to believe conspiracy theorists.*
* MSM are conspiracy theorists, too.
Brilliant.
Too bad we can't call it a war anymore...
“Knowing that common sense dictates that one doesn't fight to hide something he doesn't want kept secret, Restore the Constitutional Republic was born. We believe it is time to hold our government accountable, or to reclaim it for ‘We the People.’”
Why are people so hesitant to believe how significant this is? We need believers who will act.
We are so screwed - so I bought more ammo this morning.

Have you heard the latest amazing statistics? It seems that for some strange reason the number of people who have too much ammunition is EXACTLY equal to the number of people who have too much money! Can you believe that?
Hey Jag!
Onama has a Zero Script!
Redstribite and reinstigate!
Even Slo-Joe Biden got it ... the White House
is NOT the place for OJT !!
When is the next ObamaFoop going to happen? "Ooops!" is not good enough. ( How many oopsies did these idjits give Bush?).
I say we tie his shoe laces together for the next time he deplanes down that high ramp of AF1.
