Chairmen Waxman and Markey Introduce “The American Clean Energy and Security Act”
Committee on Energy and Commerce ^ | 5/15/2009 | Waxman Markey

Posted on 05/15/2009 3:10:20 PM PDT by Domandred

Chairman Henry A. Waxman and Subcommittee Chairman Edward J. Markey introduced "H.R. 2454, The American Clean Energy and Security Act." The Energy and Commerce Committee will begin markup of the bill on Monday, May 18, 2009, at 1:00 p.m., and will complete consideration before the Memorial Day recess.

"The legislation will create millions of new clean energy jobs, save consumers hundreds of billions of dollars in energy costs, promote America's energy independence and security, and cut global warming pollution," said Chairman Waxman. "In support of these goals, this legislation ensures that consumers and industries in all regions of the country are protected. I look forward to working with all members of the Committee to approve this legislation to make America the world leader in new clean energy and energy efficiency technologies."

"This bill marks the dawn of the clean energy age," said Subcommittee Chairman Markey. "This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to revive our economy and create millions of good-paying clean energy jobs. After months of hearings and discussions with my colleagues, I am pleased that we have produced a bill that has widespread support from all regions of the country."

Yet another 900 page behemoth destined to pass by the new "the more pages the bill has the more chance of it passing without ever being read" congress.

Have fun with some light reading this weekend. PDF at link below.

Republicans need to do a better job of defining the issues.
For starters, they should be offering alternative names to these Orwellian bills to expose what they are really about.

This is Cap and Trade folks. I read somewhere that Cap and Trade wasn’t working so they had to rename it. They even hired a consulting firm. Just like they renamed Global Warming to “Climate Change.” Typical liberals. They always have to hide behind their agenda.

Yep. One of the first sections after you get past the definitions (20 some odd pages of them) starts to get into having to apply for credits and showing how much power and such you use.

legislation will create millions of new clean energy jobs, save consumers hundreds of billions of dollars in energy costs,
promote America's energy independence and security,
and cut global warming pollution

Every single line an outright lie.

It will destroy millions of jobs, cost consumers trillions of dollars in energy costs, and do absolutely nothing for the planet.

You can bet your last nickle that anything sponsored by Waxman and Markey will be terrible. Both of these clowns know nothing about energy or creating jobs. If you think by creating bureaucracy and government and raising the cost of energy substantially you are going to create jobs then you are dumber than a box of rocks.

Both Markey and Waxman are despicable creatures. The voters of both their districts are equally despicable.

Yeah, we got the same promise from Jimmy Carter, and we ended up with was billions in wasted dollars.

LOL. Sure. Their energy policy is as bankrupt as their economic policy. When they start building nuclear power generating plants and tapping our vast gas and oil supplies we will know someone is serious about abundant, cheap energy supplies. Until then , they are full of it.

Do you really expect a Democrat President to set an energy policy that the even the previous Republican controlled House, Senate and Presidency did not push for approval?

Its going to be solar panels and electric cars.

Cap and trade is the ultimate endgame of these criminals. Creating money from carbon, modifying our behavior to suit their needs. Don’t they realize it will come crashing down around their heads if they succeed?
