House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's extraordinary accusation that the Bush administration lied to Congress about the use of harsh interrogation techniques dramatically raised the stakes in the growing debate over the Bush administration's anti-terrorism policies even as it raised some questions about the speaker's credibility.
Pelosi's performance in the Capitol was either a calculated escalation of a long-running feud with the Bush administration or a reckless act by a politician whose word had been called into question. Perhaps it was both.

She’s toast - I’m gonna enjoy this.
Poor, poor Zero. He just wants to move forward. He has no part in all this nastiness. If only Stalin knew...
And, yes, we all know if it was a Republican, the outrage and calls for resignation would be white hot.

Yeah right LOL, a large part of his campaign was against Bush.
“Closing the books on the George W. Bush years has proven harder than anyone imagined — certainly harder than Obama hoped.”
There has always been an unwritten rule, that the incoming president does not attack the outgoing president, or that the outgoing president (s) honors the incoming president by if not supporting him, at least not attacking him.
Carter and Clinton put that to the way side by their childish critism of Bush, (remember low life Carter chastising Bush during the Coretta King funeral?)
Now in office, Obama let the rampage escalate on Bush by not putting a stop early to the democrats desire for blood.
Obama, in essence let this process run wild with the likes of Schumer and Pelosi.
I think we can see why over the past 200 years, the unwritten rule was good for our country, as we start fresh with the new administration.
WE IDIOT DEMOCRATS HAVE GOT WHAT’S COMING TO YOU. PELOSI STARTED THIS, AND IT WILL BE FINISHED WITH HER. HOPEFULLY, IT IS THE END OF HER.
It seems like each term someone takes the fall over a mispeak. It’s Pelosi’s turn. She put her foot deep into her lying mouth this time.
Pay back can be terrible.
“The effect of her accusing the CIA of lying “
I think that pretty much sums up not only her’s but this administration’s opinion of the CIA.
I disagree with you. She’s in the hot seat. The only way she gets out of this is to not give another press conference on the subject. Then the republicans will have to smoke her out, demanding an investigation.
Then the republicans will have to smoke her out, demanding an investigation.
IMHO—the stupidest thing she could do at this point is actually INVESTIGATE the CIA.
But that seat that she sits on, does, and that credibility is given by the good will of the American people. People will react viscerally to a hypocrite sitting in that chair. Any decent, reasonable person knows that she's lying. You can smell a hypocrite a mile away, and given her bizarre arrogance, only makes the stench worse. People take that personally when you look into their eyes and lie to them. That's the risk every politician takes when he steps to the podium. You can only stretch the truth so far before you step into that territory of no return. It's like an actor who never looks into the camera. Once you do, you've broken that suspension of disbelief with the viewer. Nothing can save her now, and intelligent people know that...
Pelosi can’t order a glass of water without bumbling, stumbling, and stammering. But Bush has the communication problems! She’s crashing and burning badly. This can’t last, there are tons of DemonRats that can’t stand her.
Well, that means there's a pretty good chance it will happen.
Read the accounts in the print media. They've been remarking on her visibly nervous mannerisms, whether it be physically, or behaviorally. She knows what's coming. She's just too dumb to get out of the way. Let's see how dumb the Democratic Leadership is, and dumb here can be defined as increments of time, namely days....
...given her bizarre arrogance...
And therein lies the seed of her downfall...soon to be followed by Obambi.
And Steny Hoyer is at the head of the line.
Pelosi’s performance yesterday puts the Democrats on the horns of a dillema. If they want to continue their juvenile game of hectoring Republicans about “torture” they have to cut Nancy loose. Jay Rockefeller, Jane Harman, Carl Levin and a number of others have to go over the side with her, but nobody else is both as vulnerable and as visible as she is. To keep playing the torture game Dems would have to embarrass Rockefeller et al; they would have to remove Pelosi from leadership. As long as they have a Speaker that approved the practices they want to demonize, investigating the CIA can only hurt them.
What's it gonna be guys? Are you sticking with Nancy or will you sacrifice her to keep the torture game going?
Pass the popcorn.
One can only hope. Then again, we'd have that clown Biden.
Sheesh, what the hell were people thinking....
I think there are people in her own party, I would reckon Murtha is one of them, who want her out.
Democrats are sleazeballs in ane outside their party. They will cut each other’s throats if you give them enough rope.
She may look dumb, bu tI would not underestimate her. No one gets to be SOTH by being dumb. She is very shrewd and knows what she is doing. In the end she just has to get the people of her district to re-elect her (which they will) and cow the members of her own party. Since the Dems are beholden to her and probably frightened of her (including Obama), they will take the path of least resistance and rake the CIA over the coals. Mark my words, agents will go to the Gulag before Nancy pays any kind of price. And this MSM will watch her back the whole time.
Sadly, its a new day in America.
would reckon Murtha is one of them.....
