Ehlinger suggested the program as a way to encourage people to buy new, environmentally-friendly vehicles. No, but it would encourage a lot of resentment toward the people who own these cars.
BTW, anybody know what it costs to replace the battery in one of these things?

That would have sent the wrong message. The Un “green” vehicles should be encouraged to park for free to keep them from destroying our fragile village called “Mother Earth”. Hybrids and electrics should drive all they can and never park.

Buckman said he didn't see how the program would benefit the general public. This sums up most of the "green" proposals. They make no economic sense, and survive with government subsidies that drive up costs for everyone else.
But it gives a nice warm feeling for a few moments.
