30-year lows: Global tropical cyclone activity at record low levels
Mauetropical ^ | April 29, 2009 | Ryan Maue

Global tropical cyclone activity is at historically low energy levels — not seen since the late 1970s.

Using a well-accepted metric called the Accumulated Cyclone Energy index or ACE for short (Bell and Chelliah 2006), which has been used by Klotzbach (2006) and Emanuel (2005) (the Power Dissipation Index is analogous to ACE), and most recently in Maue (2009), simple analysis shows that 24-month running sums of global ACE or hurricane energy have plummeted to levels not seen in 30 years.

But we have it on the best authority - Al Gore - that human activity is causing global climate change that has already led to increased hurricane and cyclone activity. Those storms are the symbol of man-made climate change!

Someone needs to interview Algore and ask him about this.

Bollocks to Al Gore. Even his own side views him as a joke.

Where are the so-called credentialed scientists who threw objectivity to the, er, wind and were beating the death-by-hurricane drums in the wake of Ike and Katrina?

Yes bias is a huge problem with the media but even worse is their intentional laziness: they refuse to go back to their precious sources to ask how their predictions could have been so wrong.

Is there an 11 year period here? Does it correlate to sunspot cycles?

Looks like it to me.

Does the sun affect the amount of energy falling on earth and affect the energy in storms? Duh.

That’s because a hurricane (cyclone) is a SOLAR-powered engine, not CO2 powered. And what’s been going on with the sun lately?

A change in the weather? That’s climate change. Even if it’s an improvement. That’s why the Gorites switched to “climate change” rather than “global warming”. No matter what you can always be right. Even if you are a total idiot.
