I seriously doubt he is eligible to be President. What is he hiding? We cannot let this issue die unless and until obama produces a valid birth certificate. First thing President Palin should do in Jan 2011 is launch an immediate investigation into obama's illegal Presidency. :-)
Palin landslide in 2010!
Our Constitution protects us all - not just those who agree with the far left.
Governor Sarah Palin
While I would be delighted to see her elected President in 2010, the awkward fact is that the next Presidential election is not until 2012.
Gov. Palin, always standing up for her principles,
not what is popular.
Where is Jindal, Pawlenty, Romney, Gingrich, Steele, Sanford, Huntsman, etc., ect.? Why is it that Sarah Palin has to do all the heavy lifting. All these others will sit back, and watch the media feeding frenzy descend on Palin once again, and will not so much as lift a finger to support her. That’s OK, Palin is tougher than all of them put together. By tomorrow this will be reported and blogged in an endless stream. You know what? The majority of people support traditional marriage, and everyone will see that she is the ONLY political figure (as opposed to a politician) who is willing to stick his or her neck out for a fellow human being.
And “they” question whether she can write, or not.
Sarah smacked down the left, the msm, and called out Zero and Hillary in just about 120 words.
I’ll bet liberal heads are exploding tonight.
Can’t wait for the book.
Governor Sarah Palin
While I applaud her support for Miss California, it's troubling that she apparently doesn't understand that this has nothing to do with the constitution. (Ms. Prejean made the same error, but she's not a national political figure.) No one's constitutional rights were violated in this episode. No one was prevented from speaking by the government. The right to speak does not entail the right to not be criticized, ridiculed or ostracized. Remember the Dixie Chicks? They moaned about the 1st amendment too, but their fans had the same right to trash their CDs and demand they be taken off the air as the Chicks had to their idiotic comments.
Palin needs to get up to speed on this kind of thing if she hopes to broaden her appeal enough to mount a presidential bid.
That’s what I get for posting late and tired...sigh Confusing the mid-terms with the big one... Also a little wishful thinking... ;-)
Palin needs to get up to speed on this kind of thing if she hopes to broaden her appeal enough to mount a presidential bid.
Her appeal has nothing to do with this kind of nuances. Most Americans would agree that a violation of Free Speech is condemnable regardless whether from the government or the media.
The spirit of the constitution is protection of all speech, especially if one side finds it objectionable. When Perez Hilton, Kieth Olberman etc spout their hypocritical selective indignation and hate-filled diatribes (including digging into parental divorce records) they are behaving despicably. But they are practicing free speech, not "violating" it. This is not "nuance," it's an essential distinction.
(Beside that, defacto the media is argueably now a branch of Government... though not "technically".)
That may be true, but the only cure for that is the free market of ideas. If speech is not being suppressed by the government, it's ignorant to invoke the 1st amendment. That's OK for a beauty queen, or a voice on the internet, but not for a serious candidate for president. And Palin WILL have to broaden her appeal beyond what she has now if that's her intent.
I am guessing she knows that and was using a little hyperbole to attack the silencing attacks by leftists. Hyperbole is not very presidential but I love that she rushed to Carrie’s aid.
Even if it is hyperbole (and I fail to see how it is - why is it any better for her to say “First Amendment” rather than simply “free speech”), mistakes like this feed right into the liberal/MSM attacks on Palin. If she’s going to succeed on the national stage, she needs to be a bit more precise with her language.
