Rockstar energy drink founder and CEO Russell Weiner - son of Michael Weiner, aka Bay Area-based, nationally broadcast conservative talk radio talk host Michael Savage - on Monday made a $25,000 contribution to San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom's 2010 gubernatorial campaign.
Yes, the son of Michael Savage, who just last October was saying Newsom is "in love again with the gay mafia" and "a whack-job as a mayor - 'Any-twosome' Newsom." Y’know, Savage — the guy the Brits don’t care to have around.
Is this a case of the apple falling far from the tree? It's not as if the junior Weiner has been some raging liberal: He ran for the state Assembly in 1998 as a Republican, touting the fact that he with his dad had founded the conservative Paul Revere Society (later stripped of its nonprofit status, and now redirecting Web browsers directly to Savage's site.)
So what's the deal?
"We're personal friends, went to the same high school at different times,” Weiner told me a short while ago. “And he's a businessman, I'm a businessman, so I hope he'll be good for the business community if he's governor."
Apple doesn’t fall too far, who was the big lib Savage himself gave to a few years ago?

Not surprised considering that Savage himself donated the most allowed by law to Moonbeam’s campaign for AG of CA. Apple-Tree fits the bill nicely. Now perhaps Savage supporters will wake up and recognize the snake for who he really is. Savage is a lib pretending to be a conservative, but who is actually out to help destroy the GOP. And, he’s done a bang up job thus far.

I don’t consider Savage a liberal. He’s one of them old-school curmudgeons who believe in America and what it stands for. Besides, it’s been said that the far right and the far left are kissing cousins, so who cares if he donated money to Jerry Brown?

host and I still believe that he is a liberal sometimes I think he is working for the other side meaning he acts like a right wing crazed person but truly in his heart he probably voted for Senator Obama....he continues to flip/flop on alot of issues.
I think this is why Hannity, Rush and Levin don’t jump in and support him. I frankly can’t listen to him hardly these days. Living in CA and remembering Gov. Moonbeam when he actually was the Gov. I was kind of shocked he would support him.

The "Michael Savage" character may not be liberal. But the actor who plays him, Michael Weiner, is certainly a leftist. It should surprise nobody that his son is the same.
