While racy photos of Miss California Carrie Prejean could cost the outspoken first runner up in the Miss USA pageant her crown, pageant officials don't seem to care about even steamier photos of Miss Rhode Island that appeared in a mens magazine.
So is Prejean being targeted simply for her beliefs?

That's just it, she isn't wearing her crown and sash at these events - she is just being Ms. Prejean. But the uproar over her giving her personal opinion when ASKED for her personal opinion has made her more popular - and they don't like that!

What does Great White and Billy Joel have in common?
They didn't start the fire. It was always burning, since the world's been turning.

I suggest you take a look at page 8, paragraph 9a. Carrie lied. Right. And I'm sure Rhode Island's contract doesn't include the same rule since they're more progressive than California... so semi-nude pics must be fine with them. /sarc

How far we have been culturally dumbed down that conservative posters on this site are sticking up for Miss Prejeans semi nude photos and her past behavior. First off, I don't consider these photos to be half as bad as 80% of those on the COVER of magazines staring at me when I am shopping at the grocery store! So, if you are offended by these pictures of Ms. Prejean, you might want to inform your wife (or future wives) that they should invest in a nice dark burka! Her "past behavior" is nothing that I can fix by complaining about - besides, most of us conservatives aren't innocent, just forgiven!

Ahhh! I was wondering if there were photos of other contestants that would prove "embarassing". I'm sure the ones of Miss California were the only ones searched out by her detractors, and that they never looked for "revealing" photos of any other contestants.
I was hoping some enterprising person would find similar photos of the others and post them and say "well, lookee here! Anything you say about Miss California must now be applied to these other contestants!!".

"As opposed to Miss California Carrie Prejean who lied about their existance, then denied them when questioned about them. Character matters, and when it came time to divulge and tell the truth, Carrie apparently thought that the rules that apply to everyone else, do not apply to her. Miss Rhode Island's Calendar was published by Maxim. Where were Miss Prejean's photos originally published before being 'discovered'?
To: cvq3842
If the rules are applied, they should apply to all. Hence the name - rules. I thought it was the Miss California Pageant people who were raising a fuss (for whom she actually holds a current crown). I would think the Miss Rhode Island Pageant would be a separate organization.

It’s about the lie. Given a choice to tell the truth, or to tell a lie; Carrie chose to lie.
So, you want a liar to be your spokesperson? Forgive me if I have higher standards than that. I like my champions to have something we call ‘integrity’.

Whatever contract Miss Rhode Island had, the facts are that she ADMITTED to the photo's
before the contest; the judges saw the photo's and gave her a pass.
Carrie made the decision to lie about those photo's (please see my link, page 8, paragraph 9a) and then denied their existance, then when caught in the act of being a liar - is acting like everyone is out to get her.
Didn't her Momma tell her not to lie? If you tell the truth; you won't be exposed as a liar.
The difference is in the way these girls handled the situation. One had 'integrity' and a sense of 'honor' and told the 'truth'; the other girl has no idea what those words mean.

Sorry, I haven't been following the daily updates to this controversy - I have not read her denials - if she signed off, denied the photo's existed, then admitted she did this, then your right she's in breach of contract. She does not deserve the title.
This should been an all to typical non-headline story about a beauty queen who (like her competitors) took racy photos pre-contest, but withheld this from the pageant, and was de-crowned. End of story.
IMHO this ONLY reached the notoriety it did because of she expressed her views on gay marriage and an effort was made to find a means (photos then discovered) to 'bring her down'. (This does not excuse her dishonesty).
