A self-described aspiring rapper confessed to robbing a convenience store Friday night and shooting a clerk in the temple with a BB gun in a misguided effort to gain "street credibility" for his career in Gainesville hip-hop, according to police.
Steven Gilmore Jr., 21, was arrested in his Gainesville Place Apartment, at 2800 S.W. 35th Place, after a tip led police to his home. Gilmore confessed to the Friday night robbery and to a robbery last week of Hungry Howie's restaurant, police said.
Police also arrested Gilmore's accomplice, a 16-year-old who police said served as a lookout for the Friday night robbery.

Wonder how much street cred the BB gun will get him in jail?
Is it disturbing to know that our criminal class has so little fear of our justice system? It should be.
All cultures being equal . . /sarc/
Why does a rapper need “street cred”, unless rap music is just a way for criminals to boast about their activities. cRAP music should be taken off the air. I thought convicted criminals were not allowed to profit from their activities?
I hear ya..
If that culture is equal with Traditional American culture, then its time to move.
A BB gun eh? Did it have a compass in the stock?
His initials in prison will be BB for Beeyotch Boy.
Just another goon from Gunsville- the home of the college football team with the most collective run-ins with the law over drug and weapons and battery incidents, as well as the LOWEST collective SAT’s and scores of any college football team in the nation as documented by the NCAA. Thugtown, USA, home of the Gator Nation, indeed.
And remember...stereotyping is always wrong. Sometimes not far off the mark, but always wrong.
Damn, I miss the days when talent was all the street cred you needed.

The Hungry Howie's heist netted Gilmore about $900, records show, and he departed the crime scene on a moped driven by a 16-year-old accomplice.
A BB gun and a moped with a 16-year-old wheelman. I'm thinking multi-album contract here...
LOL! I'm thinking he may as well get some panties and thigh-highs now because his "street cred" in the big house ain't what he thinks it's going to be.
You can't make this stuff up.
