I use a lot of other forums with up-to-date software. But there is no beating the flexibility here.

On another forum I've tried posting a table. Can't be done. There, here's a table:

It’s better than the wild old days where an HTML gaffe could screw up the entire rest of the thread, until somebody posted appropriate tag closes.

The ability to post in HTML is helpful. I write most of my web pages directly, so the using HTML daily on FR keeps my skills fresh. My wife and kids play with Facebook and MySpace. I haven't been attracted to those sites. They are easy to use, so I'm spared the need to offer constant technical support while they play. FR has a great breadth of knowledge in the user population.

The only thing I miss in the FR interface is the ability to edit my own posts after spotting a spelling or grammar error. The immutable nature of a post is sometimes frustrating.
