GOP will miss Arlen Specter's prudence [only the RINOs will] [barf barf barf]
Politico ^ | 2009-05-08 | Douglas W. Kmeic

For years, Sen. Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania has been excoriated by the GOP for his “unprincipled,” pragmatic decision making. Yet, like President Barack Obama, Specter has always been more attentive to the needs of those who sent him to Washington than to demands that he toe the party line.

It’s no surprise that the GOP now says Specter switched to the Democrats just to save his own skin. But it would stand Darwin on his head were senators unmindful of their political survival. No, the real question relates to the GOP’s survival. A party whose domestic policy consists of setting Americans against each other — and whose gray, vice presidential eminence thinks international legitimacy is found in the efficacy of torture — is, in the vocabulary of the time, not too big to fail. And it is failing badly.

Specter is not a flashy, youthful politician. His ways and manner are old school. Nevertheless, Specter deserves praise for his willingness to find workable solutions even if it means enduring the unrelenting criticism of those who see the world only through a distorting ideological lens.

The GOP will miss Specter’s prudence as it prepares to quiz Obama’s nominee to replace retiring Supreme Court Justice David Souter.

The GOP will miss laughing at him behind his back. And giving him the one finger salute.

Fact: When Spector fled the GOP, it became that much more worth voting for.

"GOP will miss Arlen Specter's prudence"

Is Prudence his dog or his daughter or his mistress? Maybe all three?

Douglas Kmiec

"..Obama Endorsement

When Romney dropped out, Professor Kmiec aired his disagreement with those in the Republican party who targeted Romney for his faith and challenged the GOP to do a better job addressing social justice issues from the needs of the middle class to the war in Iraq. Kmiec suggested that if the Republicans did not address these needs more effectively, "Reaganites for Obama" would not be far behind. [6] A few weeks later and despite his Republican bona fides, Kmiec endorsed Democrat Barack Obama in the 2008 presidential election. [7][8] In making the endorsement, Professor Kmiec was careful to note his disagreement with Obama, especially over the right to life, but indicated that it was time to find common ground on this and other topics. Most of all, Kmiec said he endorsed Obama because he "believed him to be a person of integrity, intelligence, and genuine good will. I take him at his word that he wants to move the nation beyond its religious and racial divides and that he wants to return the United States to that company of nations committed to human rights." [9].."

Of course Kmiec likes Specter, he’s pro-abortion after all and helped kill the Bork nomination.

Not exactly surprising considering who the author is. One unprincipled joker defending another one.

Kmeic is Romney’s senior agent, part of Team Romney’s
endless attack on the GOP and conservatives.

Romney = Obama supporter
Romney = GOP Conservative Hater
Romney = POS

But we are just happier than **** that he took his “prudence” over to those out of control bass turds on the other side of the aisle. The Commie ‘RATS are the ones who really need it.

Specter has always been more attentive to the needs of those who sent him to Washington than to demands that he toe the party line.

Why, then, was the attentive Specter trailing by his home state primary polls by 21 points?

If he was so damn attentive, why did his own voters apparently hate his guts with a purple passion?

Jeez. He blows it in the very first paragraph, putting forward an idiotic self-contradicting premise.

The GOP will miss Specter like a man will miss a hemhorroid. It hurts to cut it off, but now it's good that it's gone.

He has no principles. He only wants to stay in Washington. What a lame excuse to switch parties. Get a job, Arlen.
