House Speaker Nancy Pelosi insisted Friday that she was briefed only once about the "enhanced" interrogation techniques being used on terrorism suspects and that she was assured by lawyers with the CIA and the Department of Justice that the methods were legal.
Pelosi issued a statement after CIA records released this week showed that Pelosi was briefed in September 2002 on the interrogation methods. The briefings memo appeared to contradict the speaker's claims that she was never told that waterboarding or other enhanced interrogation methods were being used.

Doesn't she have an obligation to understand at least the high points of those meetings that she missed? Don't they have some minutes that she can at least scan? Couldn't she... shouldn't she at least talk to fellow members of the committee? If she didn't trust talking to the Repub members... isn't she on speaking terms with the DEMS?

These idiots do not know the difference between pain and torment. Torture involves pain. Enhanced interrogation involves aggravation and fear. By mixing the terms libs are guilty of torture. After all, their idiocy is extremely aggravating.
Yeah, we need to chart the various versions of the story.
1. “I was never briefed”.
2. “Okay, I was briefed, but they never mentioned they were actually doing it.”
3. “Okay, they mentioned they were actually doing it, but they told me it was legal.”
It just keeps getting weaker, too. Now her claim is, in effect, that she had no moral qualms about waterboarding as long as a lawyer told her it was legal.

This whole thing with the enhanced interrogation techniques was to establish a line for getting information from the prisoners. It was not unduly harsh, was very controlled and not widely used. It allowed us to get useful information. It is more humane than rendition.

This was the instigator of 9/11 we're talking about. Who had info which ended up helping us with 50% of our anti-Al Queda activities.
In addition, the strong-arming of the guy had NO permanent damage done thus, it was NOT torture...it merely caused acute discomfort.
Get your priorities straight.
The CIA has never, until now, had to follow Army SOP when interrogating terrorist. That is why this information was supposed to remain “secret”. There’s a lot of things we still don’t know what the CIA does and hopefully it remains that way.
Second that thought. This is the braggart who claims to be the Speaker of the House where they write the laws. Of course, we all know that they’re poseurs, the laws are actually written by lobbyists, and these preening bozos don’t ever read them. In the case of these terrorists, it’s a moot point anyway, because they are unlawful combatants, not subject to US civil or criminal law, but subject to summary military justice (firing squad). The Supreme Court and Congress have unlawfully usurped the power to bring these rogues into the US Court system - a move that cheapens and tarnishes the rights of citizens, a usurpation that puts all decent citizens at the level of terrorist scum.
