House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-San Francisco, was playing defense again today on what she knew, and when she knew it, about torture following a document leaked to the Senate Intelligence Committee from CIA Director and fellow Californian Leon Panetta. The unclassified document shows that Pelosi, then the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, was briefed Sept. 4, 2002 on "enhanced interrogation techniques" used on terror suspect Abu Zubaydah.
Specifically, the document said Pelosi and her GOP counterpart, Rep. Porter Goss, attended a briefing with two staff "on EITs (enhanced interrogation techniques) including the use of EITs on Abu Zubaydah, background authorities, and a description of the particular EITs that had been employed."
The key words are "had been employed."
Pelosi has maintained that she was only told that the Bush administration had legal opinions justifying the use of waterboarding, or simulated drowning, and other harsh techniques, not that they were being used. That refers to the "background authorities." She has also vigorously maintained that she was bound to secrecy. She has also said the briefings were intended only to inform Congress, and were not a forum for suggestions from Congress. And she says today that the report comes from the recollections of CIA staff at the briefing and may not be accurate.
The document does confirm that she was only briefed once. However, Republicans are quick to point out that Pelosi seems to be digging in on a point where she appears vulnerable. Several people were at the briefing, and their notes are quite likely to be leaked at some point.
Pelosi is in Qatar today on a trip through the Middle East.

A Foghorn leghorn qoute.” but nothin’s coming out that makes sense”.
Demented, daft and delusional ding bat too.
The folks at DU seem to be buying it, although there are more there now that are willing to throw her under the bus to get Bush.
Statist do not resign, they are too good for that. They need to be removed!
You are right and I too eagerly await until a pooped on c.i.a. bites team obamma lamma and his team REAL HARD.
Welcome to F.R.
Too bad the MSM will not put in the amount of effort to report on this, as they would have, had Palin been in Pelosi’s position.
G-5 Pelosi must go!...I can’t stand her! She’s a puke!
torturing people with a hot seat....wish we had thought of that sooner
I see beads of sweat breaking out on the witches forehead! Look out Pelosi!....You may melt!
Once the MSM believes they might be doing permanent damage, they'll find something else to write about.
No matter how much she deserves it, they won't destroy her -- she's on their side. But they'll use this opportunity to demonstrate who's the boss...
FMCDH(BITS)
Hmm...Nance publicly undercut Holder (and by extension his boss) on the gun control issue not too long ago. This isn’t payback for that but I doubt he’d cross the street to help her. Should something bad happen to her politically they’d have to hope that San Francisco would elect (snort!) another Democrat. Seems a safe bet to me. And there’d be that lovely open Speaker of the House chair as a reward for somebody. Not a lot of downside to throwing her under the bus, IMHO.
The CIA described Waterboarding at the Meeting Briefing when Pelosi was htere. Because the CIA covered the use of it on Abu Zubayda...She is a Liar. and many other DEMOCRATS like Diane Feinstein knew, and that Rockafeller
moron, and Murtha, and Carl Levin, and Harry “The War is Lost” Reid...and Barbara Mikulski,Jerry “the Hut” Nadler
and a Toilet Load of other Democrats.
it was said that they even (Approved, and encouraged the CIA in it’s interrogation efforts).
But why would this supprise us?? democrats are just like Communists....Lie to get power
Like Ann Coulter said tonight on Hannity. “Torture is attaching electrodes to the persons testicles.” LOL!
Well, when you stretch a bird so tight, she’s bound to have memory problems! Poor broad.
Acting in her capacity as House bag man.
