(CNN) Former Vice President Dick Cheney is weighing into the heated internal debate over the future of the Republican Party, declaring it would be a mistake for the GOP to "moderate."
"This is about fundamental beliefs and values and ideas what the role of government should be in our society, and our commitment to the Constitution and constitutional principles," Cheney said in an interview with North Dakota radio host Scott Hennen Thursday, according to a transcript.
"You know, when you add all those things up, the idea that we ought to moderate basically means we ought to fundamentally change our philosophy," Cheney also said. "I for one am not prepared to do that, and I think most of us arent. Most Republicans have a pretty good idea of values, and arent eager to have someone come along and say, 'Well, the only way you can win is if you start to act more like a Democrat.'"

I would vote for Dick Cheney (and Sarah Palin) anyday.
It’s not my denseness I’m concerned about it is those that visit FR in ever greater numbers as the White House junior high comedy club hits just keep coming!
Me too. But - have you seen or heard his daughter Liz speak? That apple didnt fall too far from the tree there. She's just as ballsy as her father, let's hope she increases her profile in the party and gets more involved.
I liked Cheney the first time I heard him when he worked for Bush One during the first Iraq War. I was thrilled when Bush Two picked him for V-P. He’s a great man, brilliant too.
Let’s make it happen!!!!!!!
Thank god for Dick Cheney.
Thanks for the ping to the power of cheney LucyT.
Yea me too. What a waste of oppertunity. The GOP had it all and became the clueless party under Bush.
Semper Fi,
Kelly
