As those following the insanity in the Oregon Legislature know, House Bill 2186 A Engrossed is scheduled for a floor debate and vote today. According to the House Clerks Office, and a glance at the floor schedule reveal, it is unlikely that the bill will be heard today. There are a total of 27 House Bills that were carried over from May 6th to today, and those bills will be considered first. The Clerk's office reports that the House Bill Schedule will be cleared tomorrow, meaning that they will hear and vote upon every bill to clear this legislative schedule for this session of the Legislature. This is concerning because, of necessity, debate will be more limited on all of the bills scheduled.
Between today and tomorrow, 38 Bills are scheduled to be debated and voted upon. Based on an 8 hour work day, that's approximately 42 minutes of debate and voting on each bill. For this reason If nothing else, HB 2186 should be voted down; Oregonians and legislators should take the time to assess the real impact this bill will have on the lives and pocketbooks of the citizens of this state. That impact will be huge.

Less than 45 minutes per bill.... its astounding that elected officials could give so little time for considering bills that will affect peoples lives and jobs for decades to come. Its just irresponsible at its very best.

Thanks Sionnsar! You beat me to it!

Just got this in an email. Have a good laugh!
Little Johnny is at it again...
President Obama was visiting a primary school and h e visited one of the classes. They were in the middle of a discussion related to words and their meanings. The teacher asked the president if he would like to lead the discussion on the word ‘tragedy’? So our illustrious president asked the class for an example of a ‘tragedy’.
One little boy stood up and offered: ‘If my best friend, who lives on a farm, is playing in the field and a tractor runs over him and kills him, that would be a tragedy?’
‘No,’ said Obama, ‘that would be an accident.’
A little girl raised her hand: ‘If a school bus carrying 50 children drove over a cliff, killing everyone inside, that would be a tragedy.’ ‘I’m afraid not,’ explained Obama. ‘That’s what we would call great loss.’
The room went silent. No other children volunteered. Obama searched the room. ‘Isn’t there someone here who can give me an example of a tragedy?’
Finally at the back of the room, Little Johnny raised his hand. In a quiet voice he said: ‘If the plane carrying you and Mrs. Obama was struck by a ‘friendly fire’ missile and blown to smithereens that would be a tragedy.’
‘Fantastic!’ exclaimed Obama. ‘That’s right. And can you tell me why that would be tragedy?’
‘Well,’ says the boy, ‘It has to be a tragedy, because it certainly wouldn’t be a great loss... and it probably wouldn’t be a Damn accident either..

Please notify me via FReepmail if you would like to be added to or taken off the Oregon Ping List.
ROTFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If they were to move on the 10th amendment resolution, I'd be the first to cheer them on.
HB2186 is a piece of work though, seems to have something in it for every leftist dirt worshiper.
BTTT
Oregonians, contact your legislators! Links to do so are at the article!
HB 2186 WILL get a vote today! It appears to be second in line for floor debate this morning!
It gets even better, if it passes the house this morning, it will most likely get Senate Bill 80 attached to it, with is Oregon’s Cap and Trade - Bait and Switch legislation.
The combination of those two bills scares the heck out of me, if they pass, I am giving serious consideration to leaving the state. We won’t be able to afford to live here. Sayy hello to 20% unemployment with in 6 months. Another little nugget, if these bills get signed into law, they take effect IMMEDIATELY, they are written to include language that makes them “Emergency” bills. INSANITY.
It's no secret I've been aiming to get outa Dodge for the better part of the year. Just looking for the right gig, but it isn't likely to happen ‘til oil hits 60 or 70.
For now just biding my time.
I love it when people are kind enough to make sure they put the topic of the bills they are discussing in their comments ... love it - love it - love it.
