Were Done With Dodd Rally Planned For May 16 Outside His Hartford Office
Sean Murphy of Woodbury, the head of Connecticut Resistance, announced today that the group will hold a Were Done With Dodd rally on Saturday, May 16 at 12:05 sharp, outside Senator Chris Dodds offices at 30 Lewis Street in Hartford. Connecticut Resistance is the coalition dedicated to uprooting entrenched politicians and restoring government by the people.
Dodd must go, and the sooner the better, Murphy said. It is not a matter of party affiliationhe is just a lousy senator. This rally is a chance for the people of Connecticut to show that they have had enough of him.
The real villains in the current financial mess are the politicians who let it happen, said Murphy. Chris Dodd has been in Congress since 1975. He was in charge of the banking committee when the crisis hit, but instead of doing his duty, he moved to Iowa to run for president.
Former State Senator Joe Markley of Southington, an anti-tax leader and rally organizer, will serve as Master of Ceremonies.
You dont often get a second opinion on a politician, Markley said, but we did on Dodd. He alone among the candidates truly made Iowa his homegot a house for his family and put his daughter in kindergarten there. He spent nearly $20 million on his campaign, and met thousands of Iowans one-on-one. Caucus night, Chris Dodd finished dead last, the only candidate to run behind No Preference.
According to the Iowa Democratic Party website (www.iowacaucusresults.com), he took 0.02% of the vote: thats two voters in ten thousand. Seems Iowans sensed something wrong with Dodd, the sleazy stench of political hack, perhaps, that weve smelled so long we grew used to it.
Now the people of Connecticut are on to Dodd, Murphy said. Only four people from our state gave to his campaign in the three months, according to his own filing. Instead he gets his money from the very industries our country relies on him to oversee. The only people who will help Dodd are the ones he has power to control. We owe it to America to get rid of Dodd. For me, this rally is the next step after the Tea Parties. We need to expose and defeat corrupt politicians who have sold us out. Our speakers will be private citizens, not politicians or candidates. We welcome everyone who wants to join us on May 16, regardless of political views or party registration. Retiring Chris Dodd is a cause we all can get behind. We hope to make a strong point while having a great time, exercising our power and our rights as citizens.

Rockefeller IS a carpetbagger. He has no more idea what West Virginians are like than the man in the White House. He bought the seat and is still buying it every election. He buys votes and everybody knows it. Why they let him get away with it is beyond me. WV is so pro-troops, and Jay has betrayed them. I don’t get it.
From the article [above the fold in Sunday's Hartford Courant]:
State Republican Chairman Christopher Healy was more blunt, saying that Clegg Dodd's directorships don't "pass the smirk test." "I think in general the volume and the depth of value that Mrs. Dodd seems to have acquired would make even a gullible person wince at the hint of nepotism and favors that would be shown toward the spouse of a very powerful political leader," Healy said.
His wife's income is the most recent target of Dodd's political opponents. In addition to the Countrywide mortgages, his reliance on wealthy friends for help in buying residences in Washington and Ireland has drawn political scrutiny.
Clegg Dodd is listed in SEC filings as a director of Cardiome Pharma Corp. and Javelin Pharmaceuticals Inc., both pharmaceutical firms; Brookdale Senior Living Inc., which describes itself as the nation's largest owner and operator of senior living communities; Blockbuster Inc., the home entertainment company; and CME Group Inc., which became the world's largest futures exchange through a 2007 merger with the Chicago Board of Trade and the 2008 acquisition of the parent company of the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Pear Tree Pharmaceuticals, an apparent startup, lists Clegg Dodd as a director but the SEC has yet to report further information.
Clegg: No Clients
In the SEC filings, companies list directors' credentials. In Clegg Dodd's case, they mention as Javelin Pharmaceuticals does in a new filing that "in August 2001, she formed the international strategic consulting firm Clegg International Consultants, LLC ... specializing in emerging markets, and she has served as the Managing Partner of that entity since that time."
But Clegg Dodd's consulting firm has neither clients nor a current business phone listing.
"There are no clients now and there have been no clients for three and a half years," she said, responding to written questions. "Since the birth of my second child four years ago, I have not sought clients. My focus has been my two children and my board service which has kept me busy, full time."
Does CT have a good conservative candidate to unify behind to beat Dodd? (ie not a lib/mod like Rob Simmons and not a fringe person who wont win)?
Good question - is there one good Conservative left in CT? Is there any good thing that comes out of Nazareth (I kid, ‘cause I’m from the Socialist Kingdom of Seattle..) Here, we’re trying to just see if we can ever again successfully run a Conservative from Seattle to the State House..we’ll start there..
I wish, Rob Simmons started handing out his card at out Hartford Rally, acting like it was his rally almost
we should have asked him to leave
He was allowed to speak at the Norwich rally, WHICH WAS AGAINST THE RULES, but, I wasn’t part of that one
“He was allowed to speak at the Norwich rally, WHICH WAS AGAINST THE RULES, but, I wasnt part of that one”
This should be against Tea Party rules. We need to keep the Tea Parties as principled as possible, and that should generally include not having politicians co-opt them - unless they’re outsiders running for office for precisely the reasons and on precisely the platform (fiscal restraint and responsiblity, freedom, Constitutional respect) that we advocate.
I know that http://teapartypatriots.org have been drafting a mission statement for their part of the tea party - with public/tea party organizer input. Their draft is currently not up on their website - but I saw it as recently at this morning.
High RaceBannon, will be at the rally next Saturday.:)=^..^=
Biggirl
I’m not going to be there, I have other plans :(
If I had three wishes I would burn one of them to be there.
How does Countrywide's Angie Mozilo get into his
$170,000 Lamborghini with Sen Dodd in his back pocket?
Hiya Race!
The Tea Party Express will be there in September, and in DC on 11-12.

PLEASE RSVP TO CTRX4CHANGE@DODD.SENATE.GOV
OR CALL 860.258.6940
Just asking as the media will likely be in Derby, ignoring the "extremists" in Hartford. Thoughts?
maybe Dodd went to Derby because WE are in Hartford....
If you are going to confront Dodd or DeLauro be prepared with your research. Have the estimated cost of the health care bill from a reliable source and then ask them how it is going to be paid; annually or monthly, how much it will cost each family and/or individual. Then ask what will be the impact on the insurance industry and the employees.
Don’t mess with the waitress sandwich question.
Harder for the media to ignore.
If you CANT be in Hartford Saturday...TOMORROW...then, there is another event in DERBY, closer to Bridgeport SATURDAY also!!
***********************
Please join us as we “Greet and Meet” Senator Chris Dodd and Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro in Derby on Saturday morning.
Dodd is scheduled to host a town hall meeting about health reform at Griffin Hospital from 11:30 AM until 1:30 PM.
Dump Dodd 2010 has received permission to stage a silent vigil around the perimeter of Griffin Hospital. We are NOT limited in the numbers of people who may attend.
There are only three ground rules to obey.
1. Keep quiet in the hospital zone
2. Don’t block the sidewalk......single file is best.
3. Be on your best behavior.
You may bring your own signs or you may purchase our yard signs or borrow them for the demonstration.
We will have up to 80 to loan out.
This is our mission. To be a presence at a Dodd event and to make sure he sees us in full view and in full force. There are only two drives into the hospital grounds. We will stake out both.
This demonstration will be videotaped for a You tube show, so dress neatly. LOL
After he arrives you may go home or go in and listen and ask questions.
The cafeteria will seat about 300 people. Perhaps we can garner a large percentage of those seats.
If you wish to stay for the town hall, be sure to RSVP at
This is a chance to see our nemesis up close. You may like to ask a question or make a statement.
For anyone wishing to wear a Dump Dodd Tee-shirt into the event......we suggest wearing a jacket or sweater over it and then uncover after your question...... or once the give and take is started.
Good luck,
We hope to see many of you there on Saturday.
I will send out an update tomorrow night. Details including a map are on the web site, front page!
Plenty of parking in the visitors lots and some on the street.
We will stay around after the event to talk, gather addresses or offer our Dump Dodd stuff in exchange for donations. Remember, we are a non-profit PAC, dedicated to Mr. Dodd’s defeat in 2010. Whatever you can contribute will help achieve that goal.
FReep him IN PERSON in Derby, CT (see RaceBannon's post #37 on this thread)...
...or at his office in Hartford (see RaceBannon's main post at the top of this thread).
DUMP DODD in 2010!!!
We can’t make the rally in Derby, and I’m doubtful we can take time away from some obligations to be in Hartford tomorrow. Sorry, but please keep us informed about future Dump Dodd rallies and Tea Parties... thanks! :o)
Dont mess with the waitress sandwich question.
Excellent post, blue-duncan.
