Bing doesn't have much time to make a dent in the problems of the city, as he has to run for a full term this summer. Hopefully, if Cockrel resumes as president of the city council, displacing Conyers, this combination will be better for the city of Detroit.
Shoot... it don matter none.
Long as he a baller, and he got game, he good for Detroit-city.
The Good News for Dave Bing: you won the election!
The Bad News for Dave Bing: you've been elected mayor of Detroit!
Turnout was 15%. That’s fifteen per cent.

“Turnout was 15%. Thats fifteen per cent.”
Did anybody get the word out to ACORN?...was there no community organizer running?..
That may be the percentage of truly informed voters or the ones who really care about what happens in the city. Contrast to the 2008 presidential election where the turn out was 38%.
Wasn't the turnout 105% for the presidential election, which went to Obama with 103.9%?

OK, I will do it first...
Unlike his predecessors, Mr. Bing is a gentleman.
Always conducted himself as a class act and a hard competitor.
Unlike many of todays basket ball players he is not a thug.
I wish him well, he obviously has a tough road ahead.
This is good thing for Detroit. Bing is a classy guy and a successful businessman. More importantly for the city, the voters approved opening the city’s charter. This will probably lead to electing city councilmen on a district basis, rather than city-wide, resulting in much more accountability for elected officials and neglected areas of the city will be better represented.
This is still Detroit, anyone competent is run out of town.

I was sure Cockrel would win.
Yes, this result is kind of a surprise, since Bing trailed in a poll I had seen a couple of weeks ago.
Seems like this election can only be considered a possible ray of hope for a distraught dysfunctional city because they are getting some new blood.
He was an outstanding guard for the Pistons, but the teams that he played for didn't win very much.
