Another comic great has died. Dom DeLuise passed away at a Los Angeles hospital around 6:00 PM Monday, reports TMZ.
A film and TV staple since the mid-1960's, DeLuise was an expert foil for other performers, including Dean Martin, Mel Brooks (in six of his films) and Burt Reynolds, with whom he starred in the "Cannonball Run" flicks. In 1980, he played the lead in "Fatso," a film written and directed by Anne Bancroft, the late wife of Mel Brooks.
A noted gourmand, DeLuise authored two books of his Italian recipes, and wrote several children's books. He voiced numerous characters in animated films and television.
DeLuise is survived by his wife of 43 years, Carol Arthur, three sons, Peter, Michael and David, and three grandchildren.
R.I.P. Captain Chaos .... er ... Captain USA. Man, he was funny.
“Blazing Saddles” What a hoot.
A funny man.
RIP, Dom DeLuise.
"The joys of my life are my granddaughters. They are beautiful. You don't have to believe me. You can ask my wife. She'll tell you."
- Dom DeLuise
RIP. Thanks for the laughs!
Don't turn this into a conversation about Canada.
I also like his performance as Pepe Damascus in the Humphrey Bogart spoof classic “The Cheap Detective”.
“I purposely stink to keep my enemies from getting too close.”
That’s a great one with Peter Falk, Ann-Margret, Madeline Kahn, Abe Vigoda, Sid Caesar, Eileen Brennan, Vic Tayback, John Houseman.
Other good ones from Dom, “Silent Movie” and “The Glass Bottom Boat.”
"Sissiessssssss."
May he rest in peace.
The Twelve Chairs is one of my favorite Brooks movie. Dom Deluise was hilarious in it.
RIP bump
Thanks for the memories and the laughs, Dom - R.I.P.
RIP Dom.
You were a real professional.
Not being much of a movie fan, I don't know too much about him - but years ago I was running a visiting Australian business bigwig around town and we had lunch at an exclusive Beverly Hills hotel. Dom was prancing all over the lobby and dining area; to me he made Richard Simmons appear masculine.....so I'm surprised to hear he was a family man.
RIP Dom
Condolences to the family
“I liked his part in The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas,”
I would just howl when Marvin would be railing to his friend about how big a hypocrite Sheriff Ed Earl (Burt Reynolds) was, while he was putting his corset on so he would look more slender on camera. . .hillarious!!! One of my favorite movie scenes of all time.
Saw him in Vegas once. Irreverent, but very funny!
Rest in peace Dom. Great comedian, actor and all round funny guy.
Now he’s dancing with Gilda in heaven.

He was a knockout comic for those too young to know; He was an outstanding cook, was very generous re: charities/appearances and a down to earth guy with an infectious laugh.
Don’t talk about me when i’m gone in Dom’s living room
