Palin Joining GOP Rebranding Group
Roll Call ^ | May 4, 2009 | Jackie Kucinich

Posted on 05/04/2009 10:27:57 PM PDT by Choose Ye This Day

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R), the 2008 vice presidential nominee, will join a new Republican policy group aimed at reshaping and promoting the party brand.

House Minority Whip Eric Cantor (R-Va.)announced Palin’s decision to join the National Council for a New America on Monday night. The group launched late last week and held its first town hall-style forum on Saturday in Virginia.

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), the 2008 presidential nominee, indicated during a conference call last week that his former running mate had been invited to join the policy panel. The group, which is made up of prominent Republican leaders, plans to hold town hall meetings across the country over the next few months.

Palin’s absence from the group had prompted questions about whether she was snubbing it or being left out.

“To me, there is one thing the whole group seems to have in common. They are more populist driven than ideological.”

They are politicians. I am not sure ‘populist’ is the right word, but I get your point. They are doing the poll-driven, lets find out what the people want us to tell them. But you and I know what needs to happen - stand up for freedom, limited Goverment, individual responsibility, American sovereignty and the founding principles and great traditions of the nation!

I for one would be happy to be given the opportunity to tell these guys that and get them stoked into standing up for it too.

What people are not seeing is the ‘two steps ahead’ aspect of this effort.

This is a dialog - a ‘listening’ plus ‘educating’ on what is really going on with Obama’s agenda. More power to the leaders if they stand up against Obama’s agenda.

If they actually listen, and let Tea Partiers speak ... they will get an EARFUL. Why is this a bad thing for McCain - who practically was shouting at the base over immigration - to actually listen to the Tea Partiers?
If this is a RINO-circle-jerk, where they DONT tap into the huge amount of grassroots energy, it will end up being a non-attended depressing non-event in some Holiday Inn. Move on.

“For me, that’s a problem as I see that the unpopularity of the GOP is largely due to the absence of any guiding principle.”

I agree. Or rather too many in the GOP forgot their principles in the lege ... we have those principles, in our platforms and in our hearts, we just need to update them for today’s challenges and recommit our elected officials to live up to them:
http://travismonitor.blogspot.com/2009/05/howl-of-rinos-and-rebuilding-gop.html

“We should rebrand the GOP around the core fiscal conservative principles of limited Government and more liberty as the non-negotiable positions. If a Republican official can’t shake addictions to higher taxes and more spending, then they are no better than tax-and-spend Democrats and should be shown the door. We should not throw overboard or under the bus any conservative wings, including the valid family and faith social conservative wing, and also the national security and national sovereignty wing. In short, update the Reagan formula for the 21st century, don’t throw it out.”

It’s bad enough her little slut of a daughter can’t marry the guy she bedded.

That's completely uncalled for, OK?

That’s where you’re wrong. Again.

You might as well quit while you’re behind.

See my previous point on how this can play out. Instead of negative griping, lets try to influence its course.
see if they listen.

If you have the floor - what would YOU want the GOP to stand up for?

“So long as any member of the GOP’s leadership is allowed in the room while this is being run, we ought to be very, very skeptical. “

That’s like trying to fix a losing football team without getting any of the first string players involved. Aint gonna work.

So who are you supporting?

Well, I'm certainly supportive of Duncan Hunter. I like what Jim DeMint is doing. I'm favorable to Sarah Palin as well, but I don't want her to get dragged down into the left wing of the Republican party. And that's exactly what I'm afraid will happen if she tangles with this crowd.

Now, if she can pull them back to something resembling a conservative, small-government party, then that would be great. But she's only one. They didn't listen to 1 million of us that spoke out on April 15th, what makes you think that the party elites will listen to Sarah Palin?

Actually I named names and qualifications.

The only name I saw you name was Romney (whom you said you would like to watch and see if he serves up red meat). So do you think he is the answer?

Sign me up! ;-)

I watched the first NCNA gathering. It appeared to me that they were doing more talking than listening. That didn't surprise me as most of these folks have been in office for 20, 30, or 40 years and have been largely tone deaf. I have called for the GOP to take up an "education" campaign for years now -- to sell conservative principles. I think that is what made Ron Paul popular with much of the youth -- he told them why his fiscal policies were correct. On other things, I didn't agree with him but I think he performed the type of campaign that would help conservative candidates and the Republican party. Unfortunately, the "teaching" that I saw a this one event seemed like self-serving justification of ill-conceived policies on education and healthcare. I'm willing to sit back and watch before condemning them, but I have serious doubts that this group will finish the exercise and have learned the right lessons.

We don’t need rebranding, we need a new party and the first step is top purge the worthless leadership we have now.

Not many left. Sad.

Leaders, by definition, are few in numbers. Besides, she can tell her vision of the past and future of the party, instead of leaving the defining to either failed politicians, or those with the agendas of defining the party and her differently from reality.

She had the problem of being defined by others during the 2008 campaign, both her enemies and her supposed "friends" in McCain campaign who used her as a pinata for their own failings. Now could be her time to [re-]define herself, and, hopefully, the party. Now she can speak for herself, in her own voice, without McCain "filter". If she does it well, she'll leave the "panel" well behind, and advance her stature as one of the leaders in the party.

If she’s following her instincts then they aren’t as good as we hoped. If she’s acting on someone’s advice then she needs to get new advisers.

I'm glad Sarah has decided to join the GOP rebranding group. She'll be able to infuse the conservatism that Reagan brought to the GOP, and bring new minds and new converts to the Party. There is a hunger for conservatism out there, but there are few politicians who can articulate the conservative principles as well as Rush, Hannity, and Levin do daily.

There is a reason the media and the Democrats hate this woman. If she were the idiot they insist she is, they wouldn't focus on her. Their hatred for everything involving Sarah is evidence that they are afraid of her, and afraid she can unite conservatives across the country and beat Obama come 2012.

The rats and the MSM know that Sarah can unify the GOP, and they hate her for it.  So they are trying to destroy her financially and destroy her reputation and her family.  Those who are easily swayed by the liberal media are those who also believe Obama really, sincerely cares about them.

It’s bad enough her little slut of a daughter can’t marry the guy she bedded. If mom beds down with the NeoCons, it might as well be an advertisement for a third party.

You never miss a Palin thread that involves sex, so you can release your sexual frustrations, fantasies, and sexual innuendos under the guise of condemnations and bible quotes. You might fool most people, but you don't fool me.

You crave for the Palin threads that mention sex so you can publicly vent your inner hangups and get a kick out of it. Sicko!!
